My MIL loves watching tv and she’ll be here soon…. I dont know what to say or do…. but I so dont want my baby to be watching TV all day long….. i want him to do some nice useful things…playing with colours…playing and learning is a lovely way to teach them…but this TV is going to ruin all my plans !!

  • You sound like a great mum, keep up the good work!

  • Just keep doing what you’re doing, keeping him interested in you and his toys. I’m sure a visit from mil won’t have too much effect, he’ll probably get into it during the visit and forget it once she’s gone

  • Just try explaining to her you only have TV on at certain times of the day??

  • My kids love to wath tv but get bored of it easily. They run off a lot and as soon as they do the tv is turned off and they forget all about it. If the MIL wants to watch tv is there another room she can watch it in? She might want a little privacy to. Just explain to her that you would prefer your kid not to watch it. But i am sure the kind of shows she watches would not be of any interest to your child so it would proberly keep playing and take no notice of what she is doing.

  • Tv in moderation is ok. Especially the singing and nursery rhymes. But all kids love doing fun things too

  • keep in control, you are the mum! your bub seems very entertained as is! kids love life vs tv! they will ditch it for something more fun

    • That is my point too! If there are fun options kids will choose fun over TV! :)

  • Just put some rules. TV can actually be very educative. You just have to find the right programs. And I would advise you to record the programs you want to watch, instead of just sitting in front of the tv and zapping.

  • TV viewing has to be balanced and time limited when children are little. Stick with that and you will fine. Kids love to play more than watch TV and if you engage with them in play TV will not be an issue.
