Hello!

I’m really disappointed that Mouths of Mums would support a competition where the main reason for running it is to gain personal information to share with companies that hound you to purchase other “stuff”.
“Stuff” including, but not limited to: Insurances, home phone & internet services, online movies, and all manner of crap that none of us really need.
We will no longer have time to maintain a full and enriching life in between the constant barrage of phone calls!
In fact, if you don’t agree to your personal information being shared, you are not eligible to enter. That just sucks!
Then, you have to scroll through what seems like a gazillion questions relating to the “stuff” that you don’t need, which are worded in such a fashion that you will be caught saying “yes” to something that you don’t want. AND… select some friends to “share” this experience with – how happy they will be!!
Not to mention the emails! OMG! Will they ever stop? Well, probably not, and no amount of unsubscribing will be effective – best just move them to the junk folder & hope your filters can manage to weed them out & away from your “inbox”.
What a nightmare! Thanks “MOM”. Just what I always wanted!

  • If the comp takes me out of the mom site that’s a red flag for me ..will not enter ..it’s a no go.
But every one is different and it is up to the individual.

  • But you have the choice not to enter those competitions. The vast majority of the comps aren’t like that on MOMs.

  • I have never had this problem via competitions I have entered on MOM. I have had emails appearing that I know have nothing to do with MOM as they are appearing on another email site I have which I have never given to MOM.

  • All about personal choice :) at the end of the day no one is demanding this information people choose to enter.

  • Be careful of those competitions that send text message at premium rates to your mobile number and you get a big bad bill. Block those premium numbers if you’ve already entered and resolve not to use mobiles ever. Terms and conditions aren’t always clear that some gambling site for example is going to text you and charge for the privilege.

  • I don’t enter these sorts of comps. I assume MoM gets advertising dollars, and fair enough, but I’m not handing over my personal info.

  • Best to stay away from any competition online or in person that requires details that you are not comfortable sharing with others. Some people do not mind providing and sharing this information. No competition, if it causes you upset is worth entering. I make choices to not enter a lot of competitions because I am not happy with the terms and conditions and privacy. MoMs provides the platform and opportunity for people to participate however they want to and everyone needs to make their own interaction decisions based on their beliefs and values. The same applies to articles, some I enjoy reading, some of the more sensational ones – I pass by. I enjoy the opportunity for choice.

  • This is why I never enter these comps. If they take me away from the MoMs page, I’m not interested, no matter how good the prize is. It is disappointing to know MoMs have these sorts of comps. I am currently being bombarded with unwanted spam emails, obviously from sone comp I’ve entered. Even tho I haven’t subscribed, I continuously unsubscribe (I’m starting to think the unsubscribe process just shares my email with others, as they still keep coming!) I have reported some as spam, I’ve tried to block them from my emails. Nothing works, they keep coming. I have started taking down the postal addresses and writing to these companies, hoping this will help. Wish me luck

  • Im always very careful with what competitions i enter for that reason on any site… I have been caught out in the past…. As soon as i get a phone call like that i just say to them that for calling and i tell them to remove my name from the lists of conacts.. I dont get any annoying phone calls anymore…

  • That’s why you read the fine print & T&C’s before you enter a competition especially if the term Cohort is used.
