Hello!

I recently had to hire a painter to sand back and repaint all the internal and external window frames in my property. It was a job I was meaning to do myself for 3 years and finally bit the bullet and hired a local professional. I was really happy with his work ethic, he turned up on time and the amount of work he got through on the first two days was amazing and fantastic quality. Then he got drunk and phoned me after 11pm and hit on me. I laughed it off and said not to worry when he texted the next morning to apologise. Then it got worse, the texts kept coming, he even sent pictures of himself and songs. It was so uncomfortable. He finally finished and I paid the balance. Thinking it was now all over, I relaxed. Then the next message “how are you, don’t you like me anymore” I am currently ignoring the texts but I am a single mum, which he knows having been inside my house, should I take things further or just keep laughing it off. A little nervous.

  • I hope you take whatever action you need to.
If need be, if it isn’t too inconvenient and expensive for you, maybe change your mobile number. Unless you need message bank, switch it off temporarily.
I don’t know the age of your child but I’m sure you don’t want any of the messages or pictures seen. I don’t know if it’s better to ignore the messages or just send one asking him not to contact you again. Pity, you probably didn’t get his vehicle rego number etc or you could get people to watch out for you and alert you if he starts hanging around. If he does it is time for him to be given an official warning.

  • How awful! When I was 20, the septic tank where I lived needed pumping out. The guy came round and did it and asked me out for Chinese and red wine. I laughed him off. Only to have him return later and try and force me into the bedroom. I screamed and the neighbours came to my aid. Only for him to return after dark! I refused to open the door, he went round every door and window repeating “Please don’t tell my partner. Her dad finances my business, if I lose my partner, I lose everything!” I rang his partner and told get everything. Not sure of the outcome, but I hope he got all he deserved, the creep

  • I would let your neighbours know at least, so they can keep an eye on things. Have you tried telling him you’re not interested and it’s inappropriate, can you back off? That might work. For peace of mind, you could take it to the police and talk about it, for back up

  • What happened? I’d probably block his number and make sure security is tight.
