I am in 2 minds of when I should start giving my son eggs….
he has had it a couple of times but was strongly advised not to start him til he is 12 months old. (he is 10.5 months now) We started eggs when we were children at a young age & no egg allergy in my family…. just don’t know what I should do?

  • It is recommended no egg yolks till after the age of 1. But there’s egg in do many products, I’m not sure of the correct age either

  • It changes all the time with the recommended age. We didn’t give them until 12 months

  • The last research I heard was the more things introduced under 12mths the less likely the allergies, if they can eat things with eggs in them and no probs then try a quiche or scrambled eggs. The only thing they do not recommend is honey under 12 months as it can cause botulism and their kidneys aren’t developed enough to process salt under a certain age. A midwife recommended when trying anything for the first time to be aware of what to look for re allergic reaction and observe them.

  • my daughter was 12 months before we gave her eggs, and she would break out in a big red rash every time. She is now 5 and loves eggs and can eat them every day and have no issue anymore :) hope this helps

  • Coming from someone who has a son with a severe egg allergy and nut allergy I would say not before 12 months, which is I think the current recommendations.

  • do it when your gut tells you to try a little bit and than see what happens but also check what your child is eating and see if it contains egg

  • its up to you, I bake a lot with eggs (cakes, ect) and she would have some, if your worried just start giving him little bits in other foods and if there is no reaction, I think he will be ok, we were all worried as my brother in-law is highly allergic
