Hello!

As the weather becomes colder and winter fast approaches, i have been finding it increasingly difficult to find things to do with my one year old. He is an energetic bundle (as most one year olds are!) and i am keen to find activities or special things that we can do together (at home or out) which are inexpensive and fun! I work two days a week and am lucky enough to have family to take my son whilst i am away, but really want to find some quality things to do together on the other days we are at home. He is a bit young for art and craft, and we love music and dance, but apart from that, am not too sure what else i can do (don’t want to be turning the tv on all day either!) Any ideas of hints would be greatly appreciated!!! :-)

  • I used to find that just laying on the mat with lots of coloured items and tactile things was a great way to spend time. If they re amused with colours and textures you can see the wonder in their eyes. Just going for a walk is also great. Put them in the pram and get out and about. They will love it and you will be getting both fresh air and exercise. Good for all and the as long as they are rugged up its all good!

  • Hide away in a library or museum as they usually have free activities and fun things for kids.

  • Local libraries are great, some shopping centres have play areas with cafés (just the cost of a coffee) and play dates with friends.
