I’d like to share something lovely with everyone.
My young daughter recently turned 12 and has often requested a dolls house. Funds are a bit tight for us and we have done what we can, but suggested before buying one (knowning she’ll soon outgrow it) that she look at my old doll’s house.
This wasn’t quite as easy as it sounded as my old doll’s house had been stored under the house at my father’s house. He and my older brother aren’t as young or as fit as they once were and after several requests they managed to crouch along under the house and retrieve it. They cleaned it a bit and glued the chimney back on before bringing it over. It needs a little renovating, but will be a great project we can share.
I was so very happy to see it again and to know my daughter loves it almost as much as I do. It isn’t fancy, new, two storey or modern, but it is split level with a carport, very magical and special to us. I still remember the tears that came to my eyes when it was presented to me one birthday many years ago. You see even though my brother and I often fought as we were growing up, he took the plans from a magazine and worked really hard for a long time to make it for me. I couldn’t believe he would take the time and put so very much energy into producing something so wonderful for me. Thankfully my daughter seems to share my feelings of awe in this dolls house.
