Hello!

I was saddened today knowing my 20 year old nephew was attending funeral and wake of a fellow Uni student. They have just finished their degrees and should have been celebrating new beginnings. So very sad when this happens – and it is all too common. I still remember a fellow student saying very kind things to our entire class one day, and committing suicide that night. Not one of us had any idea of this persons personal dilemmas and intentions – the guilt and what ifs linger forever. Today brought these feelings back again. Let’s try to look out for our youth and be there as best as we can.

  • An important message and we need to be aware of this for our youth and for all members of our communities. It is a far reaching issue and impacts on all ages at different stages or life. It is good to have the names and telephone numbers of support organisations on hand for anyone that you think may need support/help. I keep these numbers stored on my phone and in my purse too.

  • I grew up in a small town in South Australia and there was a spate of suicides amongst teenagers and early twenties…..13 in one year. My ex husband found his little brother hanging in the garden shed and it was devastating. I’ll never forget him and the consequences it had on his family :(

  • When people commit suicide, it’s because they can’t really think about any other possible solution. Often it’s something so unexpected. It’s terrible to lose a friend this way. It’s terrible that nobody understood how much in pain he was! :-(
