While big prizes like holidays, cars, LOTTO, have always evaded me, I have been quite lucky with smaller prizes over the years, and even a couple of biggish ones.

10 years ago I entered an phone-in comp to win tickets to see a world cup Rugby game being played here in Tassie as my Kiwi hubby is rugby mad. I made one call, left my details and forgot all about it. It wasn’t until my brother rang me after reading the paper that I found out I’d won, not only tickets and a Wallabies rugby pack, but a big SONY Wega TV too. That TV has just been upgraded due to the changes with digital TV but was till going strong. I guess that was when I started entering competitions, and since Facebook has become so popular, it’s even easier to enter competitions now – and free!

Being a stay at home Mum with 3 children in a single income family, I feel like I’m contributing when I can win something useful – like toys, books and DVDs for the kids. MoMs and other online pages and websites that offer free trials and the chance to win prices are brilliant, as so many of us know, when trying to make ends meet, every little bit helps. Not to mention the “social interaction” and the fun from participating!

So for those why say they “never win anything”, find prizes that you like and are useful to you and your family and enter lots of competitions. Many Facebook pages have weekly prizes with easy to enter competitions too.

While I’m not “fanatical” like some, I find it fun and who doesn’t like to get free stuff delivered to your door?

I think it is a fantastic feeling getting that call/letter….especially when you forget you have entered.

Not that I have won a lot, but anything is always great even if it’s small.

I’m always entering competitions!
I do it for the fun of it, don’t mind whether I win or lose.
My best prize as of yet is a family hamper from “woman’s day” magazine, and I’ve also won 190 lollipops with kids textas.
Can’t complain with it

Thanks for sharing your story, I think entering competitions is fun and its something I like to do when I am having a little me time. You can also see a competitions save it as a fav and go back later and enter!

I love competitions too and even if I win prizes I don’t want the local charities or fund raisers love them that way I can contribute without it costing me money I can’t afford!

This photo is of the kids an I when we won the TV (above). It was in the local paper as they ran the comp and by the time this was taken, both the 3 and 4 year old had had enough, and I had to basically pin them down to get the photo! (They made us lie on the floor in the shop!) The look on their faces still makes us laugh now 10 years later
