I looked down at my longtime companion, friend, and confidant.

“You were always there for me,” I thought, remembering significant times, the excitement of my wedding day, the birth of my first child, and high school graduation as well as the everyday moments that meant so much to me.

  • Well done, that is definitely an achievement to be proud of for both of you.

  • Nice to see so many people writing here that they have also quit 🙂 I was a social smoker up until I was 20, I stopped when I fell pregnant and haven’t had one since.

  • Congrats, It is hard, I gave up cold turkey and haven’t looked back. No matter what option you choose, you really need to want to give it up, or nothing will work at all.

  • Great job!
I gave up earlier this year after smoking for 20years & loving every moment of it.
Smoking wasn’t my addiction, it was my life!
One day I just stopped. They tasted revolting all of a sudden & that was that. Weird.
I still think fondly of my cigarettes & take my half-full packet with me everywhere in my bag.
But they remain unsmoked, my old friends.

  • Quitting is one of the hardest but the best things you can do. I also quit because my son said he can smoke when he’s bigger cos he’s allowed like Mummy. Its scary to hear our babies say that. Good for you!!! Be proud of yourself!!

  • Congratulations!! I have tried quitting a number of times, but have always given in. I have tried many products to help, but have managed to have an allergic reaction to every single one. Hopefully soon, I too can say I Quit. Your story has inspired me to give it another go.
