Inspirational burns survivor and new mum Turia Pitt shares her first date night experience with fiancé Michael since the birth of their baby boy.

Sharing on Instagram, Turia gave a humorous account of her experience to her followers.

‘First Night Out Together After Birth Of Child Total time: 1 hour 50 minutes’ she captioned a photograph of her and fiancé Michael together.

‘Time spent catching up on our respective lives: 14 minutes,’

‘Time spent talking about Hakavai: 58 minutes

‘Time spent looking at photos of Hakavai on phone: 32 minutes

‘Time spent checking messages on said phone from the babysitter (Mum): 6 minutes,’ she went on.

Her post resonated with women everywhere. She is certainly not alone!

I must say, I still get jealous of people that can manage date nights.

Can you relate to Turia’s first night away from bub?

  • Never had a date night after any of my children – wasn’t heard of in those days.

  • Back in the 1980s and prior Mums used to spend a few days in hospital, not one or two days. In the 80s Mums & dads often had a date night the night before Mum & baby went home. The baby was left in the care of the staff in the nursery. The Mums had to back in the hospital by a certain time and it definitely wasn’t late.

  • We didn’t have date nights. But I do know the feeling of leaving my babies for the first times, and many times after the first

  • Since my eldest was born 13,5 years ago, there haven’t been many date nights.

  • My daughter spent her first 2 weeks in NICU, so I took advantage of midwives constantly checking on her to have some alone time with hubby. We went and saw a movie, but I sat closest to the door, had my hand on my phone the entire time, just waiting to get a call from the midwives. I did get one call which I slipped out of the cinema to take, nothing major, just letting me know they were doing a phototherapy treatment (jaundice). I think the next wasn’t until another 6-7 months later, I was so tense the entire time and ended up regretting going out.
