Hello!

Why haven’t I seen a season of The Bachelor which includes a chubby girl?

Not that I actually watch the show, except for the first episode because I LOVE the glamorous outfits they all seem to show up in on the first day – but I would make the time for it if they ever included a girl considered to be statistically “overweight”!

Come to think of it I don’t recall ever seeing any chubby guys on these shows either!

Everyone seems to flash their tight, toned, tanned bodies with perfectly sculpted muscles under skin that looks as though it’s been freshly slathered in baby oil without any muffin tops to be seen!

Are the producers really that concerned about their ratings? Because I am confident that even more people would watch if they included everyday bodies.

Throw in a few ‘mum-tums’ as well as ‘dad bods’!

Sure it is wonderful to look after your health and well-being, and looking the part is absolutely glorious… but just include some characters that everyone who doesn’t have a fitness models figure can relate to.

Send in the saggy boobs! The beer belly! Let’s all feel at home as we watch in anticipation to see how the romantically chaotic episodes play out.

It’s not going to hurt to include the personalities who look less like Victoria’s Secret models and more like a mother who hasn’t slept in days – or showered for that matter, with glassy eyes, greying hair, a fuller figure who brings the most genuine hugs, smiles and warmth to the show- that everyone falls in love with because she’s got no time to get her nails done or her figure en- pointe, let alone bring any fakeness to the show.

Perhaps that’s why we don’t see these personalities on The Bachelor… maybe they’re too real for the producers- or perhaps they themselves just don’t have time for nonsense in their lives?

  • Ever thought that there is a “type” that apply for these shows and perhaps someone who is classed as fat just isnt the type to apply???
One of my daughter saw a bunch of females who were at the auditions for one of the shows and she said they were all very flashy with their boobs on show and short skirts, botox lips, etc

  • The producers of these types of shows are ONLY interested in ratings. There is no way in hell I would appear on a reality show. They are full of fake people, they’re edited to say what the producers want you to say, not what you actually say and I swear too much!

  • I would definitely never go on a reality tv show.

  • I probably wouldn’t appear on reality show. They should be more diverse with all beautiful body shapes. Alaura seem to be the only bigger women and everyone thought she was amazing looking.

  • I think the major reason behind this is the requirement of the bachelor that what kind of girl they are looking for.

  • They should bring out a Bachelor 2.0 with larger (fat seems offensive and what defines it?) people. And a Bachelorette as well. I’m not sure having a mixed group would work so well if the one choosing was shallow and wanted a “thin and perfect” person.

  • There are a variety of reality TV shows and some do attract contestants of all shapes and sizes. It really does seem to depend on the theme for the show. Masterchef, Lego Masters and similar shows attracted all shapes and sizes.

  • clearly because they don’t make nice formal gowns for us vertically blessed ladies

  • It’s a TV show and all fake, only models and instagramers apply. We do need a show about real people though.

  • I suppose the whole idea of Bachelors and Bachelorettes is that they are completely self-obsessed – Live the good life and care more about their appearance than anything else. That’s what makes this show great entertainment… cos there is nothing else going on for these people.

  • For starters, the headline including the word ‘Fat’ is a total turn off. I agree there needs to be normal on these shows, except, there’s nothing normal about these shows.

    • Spot on! These shows are out of the ordinary.

  • That’s why I prefer to watch UK’s first dates on youtube. More real people

  • I’d never appear on one of these shows. It seems to be more for glamour than anything else. I only ever watched a series when Nick was on. Never watched before and never would again. It’s just too false for me.

  • This show is made for ratings and sadly, sex sells.

  • They shouldn’t be so discriminatory, it’s disappointing.

  • It should show people of all shapes and sizes because after all, that is the reality of life. But, society is biased against fat people.

    Reply

  • Nobody wants to watch fat people on TV or anywhere, end of. They are not attractive- they’d get booted off straight away and it’s insulting to the poor guy… And No never, I wouldn’t put my family through that!

  • Just shows that this and other shows are not ‘reality’ doesn’t it?

  • I literally haven’t watched this sort of “reality” show in years! Not because I’m a stiffler but it just got boring! Haha! Reality is actually not a bunch of incredibly good looking humans all together in a room dating one another… in fact there are so many beautiful couples where both people look very different from one another and I think that is part of relationship beauty!!! But I think good on the humans that have found friendships and love through appearing on these productions. We all cant be the same :)
