For a start I would be lodging a formal complaint against thed ultrasound tech.

As far as the MIL is concerned. She went way too far so in future she would be the last to know anything. I would never trust her in the future. H4er son would have to be 100% on my side and make it totally clear to his mother that she over stepped and is not to do anything like this ever again.

I can’t believe her mother-in-law or the technician for spreading this. The parents stated they didn’t want to know before the birth. I’m glad that she will not be allowed at the birth of her first grandchild. Maybe she will now learn to respect her son and daughter-in-laws’ wishes.

That is just disgraceful! I wouldn’t have anything to do with her, or if that is difficult, keep your distance.

I would be so angry and hurt that if this had of happened. She had no right to give out that information to anyone. and shouldnt it be a breech of confidentiality for the ultrasound tech to give out that info too? I would be suing the tech!!

This is absolutely unforgivable. Sneaky, deceitful, selfish, WRONG. And I would let her know it – or to avoid upset during my pregnancy, tell my husband to let her know it. I had evil in-laws who we are estranged from because they are controlling of their children and grandchildren and use my son as a pawns in their very vicious game. The signs were always there at major events in my life, but changed dramatically when my son was born. We’re estranged from them for his physical and emotional safety.

Astonishing! I would be really mad at her!
She could have really broken up something in the relationship with her daughter-in-law and her son!!

My now ex-husbands family were demanding I find out the sex. I didn’t want to. My then brother in law stood up for me and said it was my baby, I had to go through the pregnancy and delivery and they just had to wait to find out.

Your mother in law needs to butt out and her friend should not have her job. I’m sure she would have signed a confidentiality agreement when she accepted her job.

I hope you and your husband continue to have a wonderful pregnancy, safe labour and lots of great times with your baby.

It breaches the privacy rules and the ultrasound technician needs to be sued along with the company the technician works for. If you didn’t want to know, that should have been the end of it!!

How awful, the behaviour of this mum in law is absolutely inappropriate and goes way over her line !! I would be furious and suggest to my husband to take distance from her.

  That the technician told the gender to the mum in law is absolutely over the limit as well. The parents should report this and make a complaint about him.

I would be so extremely angry..I’d erase my mother in law totally from my/our lives..what she did is so unforgivable.!!..I’d take legal action against the ultrasound technician as well..

The person who did the ultrasound had NO right to have told the MIL anything. Given the fact that you told her that you didn’t want to know that you wanted a surprise makes it even worse on the part of the ultrasound person. I would be as annoyed with him. How does your husband feel about this situation??

I’m sure she feels very unhappy now – but there are greater things to contend with than your mother-in-law letting the cat out of the bag.

She has been deprived of something she can never get back. I’d sue the clinic, and refuse to allow MIL to hav nothing o do with me r my baby.

Wow!! I would be furious!! Not her place and I’d also see hwat legalities there are with the ultrasound technician breaching confidentiality. No more mil in my life after that!!

Not only would I exclude her from the birth but from everything. Just so rude. I would tel, her she was not welcome at the hospital at all or at my home until I decide. I would probably havd come close to punching her

i would be LIVID. and suing the company! breach of privacy. and i certainly wouldn’t be inviting the MIL to the hospital to meet the baby.
