Rare items from Woolworths collectable Lion King Ooshie range are already appearing on popular reselling sites for as much as $45K.

Just days after the promotion launched, rare Lion King Ooshies from Woolworths collectable range are already being resold online for thousands of dollars.

In addition to the set of 24 Ooshies, 100 rare Furry Simba Ooshies were released, and a number of other rare characters are also available to collect, with the current bid for an Orange Simba set at $45,000!

A Limited Time Only

With the Woolies promotion ending on August 13th, shoppers are determined to complete the entire set as soon as possible, with a serious competition underway to find the ‘rare’ Ooshies.

A spokesman for Woolworths told YahooNews that many of the Ooshies are not as rare as people may think.

“We appreciate that there is a perceived rareness of a Spirit Mufasa and a Sunset Mufasa, for example, as they are a different colour scheme to the rest of the collectables,” he said. “Woolworths would like to reassure customers that we have as many of these in circulation as the rest of the collection so these are not a rarity.”

As for the limited range of Furry Simba Ooshies, Woolworths say they are simply a fun addition to a complete set.

“There is a rare Simba Furry Ooshie to collect and there are only 100 of them out there to add to your collection,” they said. “They are not attached to any prize or reward, they are just for fun. Happy searching!”

Even though everyone would love to collect all 24 Ooshies as soon as possible, we’re not sure it’s worth paying thousands for. We’ll stick to the $30 minimum per shop and hope that a few clever swaps can give us a full set before the promotion ends!

  • It’s just a fun bonus for when we shop – the kids love opening them especially Miss 8. I could not stomach paying that much.

  • I wonder Who buys these?

  • Wonder who is silly enough to pay so much for an Ooshie? They are adorable but certainly not for thousands of dollars.

  • I think the resale option is just ridiculous and outrageous. I would never consider purchasing anything in this way and I hope others don’t. That’s an obscene amount of money for one Ooshie that will hold no value over time.

  • My local FB market place had one guy post a good Ooshie for $180. Scroll down…. same Ooshie for $5 being sold by everyone else in my area.. lol.

  • People can spend there money however they want; however just imagine how much good that amount of money could make to those that need help and support.

  • i am sorry $45k for a tiny itty bitty piece of furry plastic – that’s just insane. I really wish people would realise that your legally not allowed to sell them! – it’s in the fine print people – I would really love authorities to take action against these people that do sell them because in the end they are doing something illegal!

  • No, I wouldn’t buy them – especially at that price! Utterly ridiculous!

  • Nah, not even keen to get the whole set for my kids. I’m willing to take home the amount I pick up with my groceries and share them with my kids, but that’s about it. I didn’t collect any yet, lol
