A FATHER shares the heartbreak of losing his fiancee suddenly just three weeks after giving birth to their fourth child.
Christie Bates, 28, died at her Boort home from a suspected blood clot.
Her fiancée Jamie Young, 33, has been left to raise their new baby, who has now been given her mother’s name in her honour, and siblings, Emma, 8, Mason, 6, and Kiarah, 15 months.
“She was the perfect mum. She did everything for her kids,” Mr Young told The Herald Sun. “We had been together 14 years and she was my soulmate, my best friend.
“I’m not real sure how I’m going to be able to live without her. “But I just have to try and be strong for the kids.”
He said his mother, Linda Young, had been a world of support as the community had also rallied around him.
With Mr Young unable to return to work in the near future, family friend Geoff Smith has set up a GoFundMe page online that has already raised more than $18,000.
“I am reaching out to the goodness and generosity in people’s hearts to spare a few bucks or whatever you can afford,” Mr Smith said.
“Jamie has always been such a hardworking family man, but when something like this happens so suddenly, it all goes to turmoil.”
Mr Young had one message to other young families: “Family is everything. Spend as much time together as you can. Take as many photos as you can. You just don’t know when it’ll be your last.”

We wish them all the strength and love to help this through this heartbreaking time.
