As others have suggested it might be a good idea to google as im sure there are plenty of recipies out there. Even look on youtube to see if you can find an Indian Mum posting videos of her cooking time and then you can follow along step by step.
There are quite a few authentic butter chicken recipes on Google, and I am sure there are a few under the dinner section of MOM. I have had a few hit and misses when buying takeaway, so if you have had a really good dish from a restaurant, you can always ask them for the recipe.
I don’t have a recipe I can share as I am not great at making curry’s but I know Pinterest have some excellent ideas and recipes you could try. I think finding the right recipe is trial and error as there are so many flavour options out there. If you find a good one, could you please share it with this group.
I have a couple of suggestions, there are Madhur Jaffrey recipes available online that would be authentic, or close to it, I would guess most Western cookbooks would have slightly altered recipes from the real deal. Alternatively, you could try googling Murg Makhani which is the Indian name for butter chicken. I found several recipes online that sound authentic.
It’s great to make things from scratch and I’ll be watching this to see if anyone shares any recipes that are a bit different. I’m feeling that I need to be a little more creative than I have in the past and want to steer away from sachets and jars.
A comprehensive search on this MoM site in the recipes section will provide some good recipes for butter chicken. The recipes are varied and good and the steps are easy to follow for anyone that likes to cook. Butter chicken is such a delicious meal to cook for the family.
Investing in an authentic Indian cook book is always a good idea. I was given some great Indian cookbooks and it is so good to have these cookbooks to refer to for recipes. Bookshops; both new and used should have a good selection of cookbooks to view and to purchase.
It’s not my culture so I can’t completely vouch how authentic it is, but the two recipes of Nagi’s on RecipeTinEats are incredible. Her tray bake butter chicken is so easy and flavourful and is an excellent mid week meal. It’s hard to find any recipe on her site or cook books that isn’t a hit.
