Bernard the Robot loses his bottom on the park swing, and sets off to find it.
Every time he gets close, it disappears again! Bird was using it as a nest, but it was too heavy; Bear used it in his drum kit, but it was too tinny; the Squirrels built sandcastles with it…and now it looks as if they’re sailing away in it.
Will Bernard EVER get his bottom back? This fabulous book will have kids – big and small – laughing every time.
No-Bot the Robot with No Bottom, written by Sue Hendra, is a brand new release from Simon & Schuster.
Available in paperback where all good books are sold for $14.99. Also available as an ebook for $11.99.
No-Bot the Robot with No Bottom, written by Sue Hendra, is one of those books you can happily read over and over again and it will still be fun! The pictures are big, bright and colourful, while the text is simple but engaging at the same time. This is a great book that both mum and dad and child will enjoy.
I have to write another review for hubby. He read No-bot to the kids for the first time yesterday afternoon. I have to point out that hubby does not like to read at all. Books, instruction manuals, nothing. I’m thrilled to say he thoroughly enjoyed reading No-bot!! It was so good to hear him and the kids laughing together, I think it was a fantastic bonding experience for them. I would definitely recommend all the mummies out there to get their partner’s to read this to their children!
After reading all the wonderful reviews on here I had to get this book for my kids. I’m pleased to say they absolutely love it. I almost know it off by heart already, I have read it that many times! It has a fantastic story line which keeps the kids amused from start to finish, with lots of giggles along the way! The illustrations are colourful and entertaining and they can spend ages just studying the pictures. No-bot has fast become a new favourite in my house and will have a place in my bookcase for many years to come. I would definitely recommend to anyone.
I found this to be a big hit with my two boys. We borrowed a copy from a friend who found it in a bookstore and her children also enjoyed it immensely. The story uses clear, simple language and the colorful simple picture design actively engages young listeners. The boys were easily drawn into the story and their attention engaged until the end.
My 3 year old son has finally gotten into sitting down and reading a book with me and he was very happy with this particular book. He loves it. Its cute, its funny and it’s easy to get him involved in the story. It’s definitely a favourite at our house and I highly recommend it to other families who want a bit of a silly giggle!
This is a fantastic book, I have just hired it from the local library this morning and have already read it to the kids 3 times. We all had a good giggle while reading it. I will definitely be going to buy this book next time I am out at the main shops.
So it’s now funny and acceptable to talk about bottoms in our house! Lovely illustrations, rhyming and story. The girls ask for this book to be read all the time (and the adults are happy to do so). I’d definitely recommend this to others and will look for more books by the author.
My little Miss loved it. She thought it was funny that he just forgot about his bottom at the park as she has left things at the park also. I also liked the way little Miss commented about how every one who tried to use it, then helped as best they could to let No – Bot know where it may be. She has taken it to her teacher from last year to read to the new Kindy Kids.
My two granddaughters were in hysterics about the robot loosing his bottom. The story is wonderfully funny with such a little journey. The illustrations are too cute and very bright with colouring that the girls loved to point at the different things on the pages.
It’s a book that you can read over and over again and even i don’t mind it. It’s a very very good story!!!
This is my second review for the book – “No-Bot, The Robot with no bottom” by Sue Hendra.
WOW! What an amazing hit this book has been with my 3 children. Who would have thought a little red Robot that goes on a mission to find his lost bottom to be so entertaining for all (even my husband!)
My 3 year old daughter is particularly drawn to the bright colourful illustrations, my 7 year old son enjoys reading the book by himself (well apart from the Robots name of Bernard he gets a little tongue tide over that) and thoroughly enjoyed the story and my 10 year daughter old finds the need to read it to my 3 year old again and again (just an excuse I think)
Once again the text is basic the illustrations are bright and the characters are all “friendly and welcoming” the story keeps the children turning the pages without getting bored.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone with children especially for preschool aged children.
We’ve really enjoyed reading No-Bot the Robot with No Bottom, written by Sue Hendra over and over again. It’s pictures are bright, glossy and filled with lots of colour to capture the attention and imagination of littlies. The story itself is fun as you go looking for No-bot’s bottom. Lots of fun and laughter.

No-Bot the Robot with No Bottom, written by Sue Hendra is a very funny story. My seven year old loves reading this story to her younger cousin and thinks it is very cute. A simple, engaging story, with lovely bright pictures, helps to capture the kids attention as they go looking for Bernard’s bottom. Lots of fun!
It is a good book that is short but fun to read. It is enjoyed really well and it is hours of fun for a book. The colors are really nice and inviting for a child. It has basic colours perfect for their learning and for their eyes that are exploring. Its a good books to bring anywhere we go. Its a highly recommended book for mommies looking for a good read for the whole family with active kids.
A BOOK THAT YOU CAN READ TO YOUR KIDS MANY TIMES OVER & OVER
I received this book review last year and i must say my daughter still picks to read it @ bed time 🙂 We both have a laugh @ the end suitable for all ages & great to read together @ any time or place. We have a big library @ home reading can teach a child many things & its great to start @ an early age. I always tell my daughter to read aloud the best thing you can tell a child to do. Happy reading 🙂 PS even our Dog Gizmo enjoys listening to us read 🙂
This book is really really good, I really felt if engaged me a lot, I found It very difficult to put down, had to be reading it all the time, really annoyed the crap out of my hubby! which made it even better,
very good story , would be happy to read it again!
I decided to purchase this book after reding the reviews & have read this on many occasions to my nephews who are very much into bottoms & robots. Very funny, lots of giggles are had, it has not lost it’s appeal, it’s the first book they both go for especially the older one 🙂
How clever of Hendra to put ‘bottom’ into the title of a children’s picture book! I predict children who are not fluent readers will be able to decode ‘bottom’ in a second and grab it off the library or bookstore shelf. Luckily, parents and teachers can rest easy that there is nothing in the story’s content to be worried about.
The illustrations are perfect for the under-five set: large, clear and brightly coloured. Kids will enjoy looking for Bernard the No-Bot’s bottom throughout the tale. They’ll be encouraged to look for shapes in their environment too, and rejoice with Bernard and his friends when that elusive bottom is found.
This book is very cute, Its a little short but my daughter loved it, I thought it was cute all the things they used his bottom for!
I can relate to the feeling of your bottom being \stuck in a swing!
I would have to say that I would be very happy myself if my bottom happened to fall off!
After reading other reviews I decided to purchase this book. I have read it , on more than one occasion, to a class of 24 7 year olds. It is often the children’s pick for the story of the day.It does not lose its appeal after re-reading. I love it and the kids love it.
I originally read this book at the local library to my nephew, he loved it that much that I went and bought it for him
the story is very funny and entertaining, he loves it so much he now can tell himself the story.
I have purchased it since for a friends little girl, and she too loved it, both my nephew and friends little girl were 3 when they first heard it.
Plus what kid doesn’t want an excuse to talk about bottoms!!

My kids have thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s interesting & entertaining. It’s engaging for the kids. An easy read & my eldest follows along very easily. THe illustrations are great. I would recommend this to any one. It’s been a great read. the kids still haven’t got bored of it. Yeah, that’s a plus !!
We had this one at playgroup. The kids lost interest after a little while ( but that is the age they are at) Normally when this happens whomever is reading stops – there was general demand from the other Mums to hear the end of the story! Must get a copy for when she is a little older
I really loved reading this book to my son, I missed out on reviewing it but went out and bought it anyway. I love that its very light hearted and is interesting for children but they are learning at the same time. The illustrations are excellent and I would tell all my mummy friends to buy this book for your child, its really entertaining for both mum and child
I love reading No-Bot the Robot with No Bottom with my son a lot. Its an interesting book with great story line and illustrations to keep kids engaged in the story and happy as well. Everyday I read this book to my son and he shows same level of excitement for it. He is learning to read these days and sometimes read the book to me.Its a great book for bedtime as well. Recommend it to everyone who loves to read to their kids.
i stumbled across this book with my sons preschool……… the first impression captivates the young child by the robot illustration…….. the title sounded fun and cheey, which sums up my 4 year so already we were both intrigued and interested 🙂 he enjoyed it and so did i, it was fun and i love seeing my kids smile with reading 🙂
When I opened the package my 3yr old wanted to read it straight away….I’m glad we did as she hasn’t put it down since. My husband and I look forward to bedtime reading just as much as she does and this book is great for big kids like us as it is for the little ones. The colourful illustrations are great and compliment the book well. A must read!

Mums Reveal Their Fail-Safe Nappy Rash Tips
Whether you’re a seasoned or first-time mum, protecting your baby’s delicate skin is right up there on the priorities list. Because when their skin is irritation-free, it really does make for a happier bub! Anyone who’s had to deal with nappy rash (me included!) knows it’s an inescapable mum truth.
Having skin irritation as an adult is super distracting and annoying. So just imagine what that’s like for our teeny babies and toddlers, who need to focus on sleep, eat and play. No wonder they can be so upset when they have nappy rash.
One thing you do need to ditch when it comes to nappy rash is mum guilt. It happens despite our best efforts. But it is helpful if you can get ahead of the game by doing as much as you can to try and prevent nappy rash in the first place.
We asked our hundreds of thousands of Mouths of Mums members for their tried-and-true, trusted nappy rash tips, and their responses came down to four key tips. So if you’re about to have your first baby, or your fifth, it’s worth popping on the kettle and reading through what’s helped other mums.
Fail-Safe Nappy Rash Tips From Mums
What we love about these tips is they’re perfect for mums and expecting mums, and they’re really simple to do. Everything from what to use and what to steer clear of, to helpful hints on caring for delicate baby skin.
1. Nappy Free Time
“As much free nappy time as possible. Lay baby on a blanket covered with a towel on the floor, without a nappy on, if possible in front of a warm sunny window.” – Joanne W.
We love nappy free time for newborn and toddlers (although it’s a lot harder to get them to stay in one place!). And while nappy free time is one of the most popular nappy rash tips among our mums, using the right nappy also plays a huge part in protecting against irritation on your baby’s skin. For example, Huggies Ultra Dry Nappy Pants have clever Rapid-Dry™ Technology, which instantly absorbs for drier skin. And they’re perfect for day and night, with up to 12 hours of leakage protection.
2. Change Nappies Frequently
“For me, what worked on my two kids is not leaving them in soiled nappies too long. I definitely changed as soon as they were wet and let their skin air dry before placing a new nappy on. I would rather go through more nappies than have to deal with the uncomfortable rash they would feel.” – MoM Member
Frequent nappy changes are a fail-safe way to keep moisture, but it’s not always practical (babies just love to fill their nappies while you’re out and about!) Huggies Newborn Nappies are designed to help protect a baby’s delicate skin with a zinc-enriched layer*, clinically proven to help protect against skin irritation.
3. Use A Barrier Cream
“My mum put me onto Zinc and Caster Oil cream. It is FABULOUS stuff! It’s very thick and sticks like you know what to a blanket hehe I tried literally everything and this was the only stuff that helped.” – Trudes
Using a barrier cream was another really popular tip from our mums. But did you know that Huggies Newborn Nappies are the only nappy with a zinc enriched layer. The zinc oxide in Huggies Newborn Nappies is the same ingredient found in many nappy rash creams, which helps to protect against irritation with visibly less redness on skin. They’re also endorsed by the Australian College of Midwives and the number one choice in Australian hospitals.
4. Choose Gentle
“Don’t use scented wipes. Flannel and warm water is the best.” – Justine F
Using the most natural product possible for wiping a baby’s delicate skin to prevent irritation is a tip that’s been passed down from generation to generation – and it’s still a great one. But something lots of mums don’t consider that a nappy itself can help protect against skin irritation. Huggies Newborn Nappies are clinically proven* to help protect against skin irritation while Huggies Ultra Dry Nappy Pants keep up with wriggly little ones while providing superior dryness, making them perfect for active toddlers.
Nappy Rash Myths & Facts
🚫 Myth: Nappy rash is only caused by wet nappies. ✅ Fact: It’s true that moisture does play a role in nappy rash, it can also be caused by moisture friction, bacteria, and even what the nappy is made from.
It’s why choosing a nappy that’s specifically designed for skin protection is really important.
🚫 Myth: Cloth nappies are better at preventing nappy rash than disposable nappies. ✅ Fact: When it comes to nappy rash, there’s not really any need to compare cloth and disposable nappies, because it’s all about keeping baby dry. The longer baby can stay dry, the better.
🚫 Myth: Nappy rash creams are the only way to protect against irritation. ✅ Fact: A good nappy with a zinc enriched layer can also help to protect against irritation.

*Zinc as Zinc Oxide. Tested on adult skin as a suitable substitute for baby skin. *#1 choice in Australian hospitals based on sales data.
My first born had terrible nappy rash and ulcers from acid urine and none of the specialists prescription creams did anything. I finally used Petroleum Jelly and it cleared up his skin very quickly and kept future rashes at bay. It is cheap and easy to use and works the best of anything.
Any redness can be resolved with a tub of Sudocrem. It’s a cream that smells like lavender. Very pleasant and usually works quickly within the first application.
Take it with you everywhere. It helps poo nappy changes. Just apply on bottom area to prevent future nappy rash. Your baby will be happy with it on. It doesn’t feel cold like a wet wipe.

I had issues with my son pooping a lot as a newborn. Sometimes it can be really hard to keep the rash at bay if you have a child that is constantly doing that. There is some acidity in the excrement and that can cause burning before it’s even been against their skin for long. I used to use paw paw cream on him and that worked best as a barrier.
Nappy Rash can be so raw and painful and i always worried so much when our babies had a bout of it. I remember trying so many things but always found good old petroleum jelly used regularly would help in keeping it at bay. There are some great suggestions in the article.
I did find that not all nappy rash creams are as good as each other. After trialing many brands I settled on Sudocrem as the best for me and my baby. Changing nappies frequently and air time is also very important.
There are so many common sense tip in this article and they are tips that we followed. We kept everything as natural as possible on very soft and sensitive skin. We went with plenty of nappy free times and we were very fortunate to not encounter issues with nappy rash.
This article describes very much what we always have done: frequent nappy changes, plenty of bare bum time, no fragrances also not in soaps and a good nappy rash cream. It can become more challenging when your child has diarrhea; in which case bare bum time becomes more complex and the skin more irritated in which the gentle washing with warm water, patting dry with a soft cotton flannel and good zinc cream is more important
Even though I agree that prevention is key, I also think it’s important to have a good barrier cream to hand to help at the first signs of trouble. There are lots of good brands, you can pick any really that suits your baby’s skin. But use it liberally when you need it!
Yay! First time seeing my own comment in an article! *happy dance*
But yes, i do swear by changing their nappies as soon as it’s soiled. It’s what worked for us for both children! We always go prepared and change either before going out, during or in the car boot if we really had to
Nappy rash is horrible and prevention is definately better than cure. This is a fantastic article with some great tips. Especially the changing of the nappy frequently. Unfortunately sometimes especially once they’re on solids and their poops get yucky a little nappy rash can be unavoidable in which case a small amount of sudocreme clears it up quickly.
We found that changing nappies frequently was key for us. And once the kids starting sleeping for long periods at night, we started using the really good quality nappies – Huggies, as it happens – while cheaper nappies were still okay for the day and frequent changes. Nappies do vary! .
This is a really great reminder that nappy rash can happen but there are some great tips to help try and avoid it. I use to do a lot of nappy free time with my daughter when we were home as she had sensitive skin and I layered the barrier cream on all the time, especially at night.
