Hello!

How is everyone spending their Easter this year and school holidays?
Chocolates are definitely more expensive this year and we want to explore low cost fun options to keep the kids entertained.

  • Easter is a time for reflection and not about Chocolate or Easter Bunnies

  • We have booked a weekend away at the Gold Coast with the six of us.. For me it’s more about spending time together as a family, than that it is about chocolates. Although I do have to admit that I also bought some chocolate for each of my family members (my husband and kids).

  • Well it may not be for everyone, but we are going on a big multi-day hike with our kids. We will be starting good Friday and through to the ANZAC day long weekend. It’s great to get out in nature with your kids. As to the prices on chocolates, I am refusing to buy much in the way of eggs or bunnies (unless I find a good deal) and I am actually going to try and make my own using a silicone mould I’ve bought. I have also said that we can just exchange blocks of chocolate. It’s much better value!

  • We have zero plans at all and will just wing it. Sounds perfect to me.

  • Have loved reading all your ideas and what you are all doing with your little ones. I’ll definitely be trying to rest and enjoy that time off from a busy school schedule but we’ll also craft and enjoy some indoor and outdoor activities to do together as well before winter hits!

  • In terms of activities, we try to do outdoor things, as it’s probably the best chance for a few months (it gets really cold here). Picnics and walks are popular with my kids, and we try to find parks (maybe the other side of town) where we haven’t been before. Surprisingly exciting for kids!

  • We will be going on holiday this Easter which I am so excited about. Normally I collect lots of craft activities and organise play dates at parks with the weather a bit cooler and do some baking and then lets the kids decorate them. Another fun thing to do is explore a national park and experience the wildness especially if it has water flowing too.

  • Along with my comment and activities below we also have fun cooking days. We love to cook and baking is a favourite activity in the kitchen at Easter time. We love to make Easter treats for friends and family. Personalised cards can also be made at Easter and it is another fun activity.

  • These days we like to keep Easter low key and a relaxed and a fuss free time. We like to enjoy the outdoors because it is cooler and a good time to explore the outdoors. We like home dvd/snack days and arts and crafts and hobbies days. It is also a good time for finding new books to read from the library or bookshop.

  • This is the first Easter we are buying chocolate for our little guy, and opting for a small amount of high quality chocolate rather than what’s in the grocery store. I always keep an eye on library events, markets and community driven activities. We love getting out in nature, whether it’s the beach or parks

  • Thanks for the replies mums! We are based in VIC and luckily for us this year, Easter falls at the beginning of their school holidays which is amazing. But this also means that it’s going to be chaotic trying to book or go anywhere so i was hoping to find fun things to do at home!

  • We try to keep the amount of chocolate moderate, so the kids also get things like books and craft activities from the Easter Bunny. This works really well as they double up as activities to occupy the kids. But this year easter falls at the end of school holidays, so that won’t work as well.

  • Im not sure what State you are in, But in WA Easter is the perfect time for camping. The weather has usually cooled down a bit but its still mostly nice and sunny. The only problem is it gets really busy so you have to book early but otherwise we just plan on spending as much time outdoors as possible. Hiking, bush walking, playing at the park and fishing. All low cost and lots of fun. Plus they use up lots of energy and help the kids sleep well.
