10 chocolate free Easter hunt ideas

I don’t know about your house but my kids get WAY too much chocolate at Easter. Here are 10 great ideas to have a chocolate free (or at least reduced) Easter hunt.

DIY Kinder surprises: Buy plastic eggs and fill them with chalk, mini puzzles, tattoos or similar.
Bubbles: Add little bottles of bubbles to your Easter hunt.
Cars: Small matchbox cars are a good size for hiding
Stickers: We go through so many at our house, the kids love them.
Hair: Special hair ties or clips make great hunt pieces.
Plastic animals: Cheap, fun and easy to hide.
Lego: Buy a small Lego set and hide the pieces around the house and then they get to make it.
Stationary: Kids can never have too many erasers, pens, pencils right!?
Jewellery: Add some plastic jewels to make it a treasure hunt.
Food: You could also do the hunt with food other than chocolate, pick something else the kids love.

Do a combination of some of these and a bit of chocolate and I’m sure the kids will be pretty happy.

Traditions ar what you make them… if you want to do lots of chocolate do it, if you don’t use some of these awesome suggestions, and don’t start something you don’t want to sustain. Our kids are too greedy these days. I want my kids to receive one thing and be grateful for that!

They are all good ideas, but for us Easter is the time and excuse you can eat heaps of chocolate and I love my chocolate!!!

We make candle eggs and wrap them in coloured foil – they make lovely gift for parents and kids!

We always had fresh coloured eggs for breakfast on Easter Sunday morning. The kids stayed up the night before getting their colouring materials ready – they loved it.

I love all of these ideas. They’re fantastic. Definitely lots of bubbles, but a treasure hunt for different items is awesome.

I love the Lego idea! We try to minimise how much chocolate comes into the house but we’ve found as the kids have got older, they are sharing their chocolates without prompting and requesting other items from grandparents instead of chocolate.

We make sure the only chocolate eggs they get are from the Easter bunny. They do their hunt then at the end of it all they equally divide the eggs up in their baskets.

Nice idea’s ! I never buy store bought chocolate, but make sure I’m making raw chocolate in easter themed molds around easter.
Another favorite at our home is making easter bunnies and chicke from bread dough. Another nice one is making healthy snacks served in an easter cupcake case.

If you’re incorporating eggs into the hunt and have more than one child, use a colour coding system to make sure they each get an even amount of eggs. You basically assign a different wrapper colour to each child so they know to only collect their colour.

We keep Easter spending to a minimum and we make a lot for Easter. We mix traditional chocolate with other bits and pieces.
