The power behind giving flowers is pretty special. Whether you’re spoiling mum for being so awesome or you’re surprising your loved one with something spectacular, there’s an art in picking the right bunch – and it’s more than just what looks ‘good’.

Flowers can reveal a lot about someone’s personality. And once you’re able to match the perfect blooms to the best traits of who you’re buying for, you’ll see just how much more impressive giving flowers can be.

Here’s a list of the most popular bouquets of flowers for all those special occasions or just to say ‘I love you’:

1. Roses – The flower of love

The flower of love is easily the most popular of all blooms. Roses, usually the number one choice for Valentine’s Day, symbolises romance, beauty and perfection.

They are ideal for women who are feminine, a little old-fashioned and who hold a timeless sense of style.

People who are naturally romantic will appreciate a bunch of red roses. But if you don’t want to display a huge token of love, opt for another shade of colour like yellow (ideal for friendship), pink or white. Because roses are linked to passion, beauty, perfection and strength, they’re usually reserved for the closest and traditional of relationships.

2. Daisies – Innocence and beauty

  • I absolutely adore receiving any flowers, but I do buy myself flowers each week. Lilies are my absolute favourite – in any colour. Although oriental lillies are my dream flowers. I love their strong cent and vibrant colour. However, I love all the colours now available in lilies. As it’s so cold and drab, I’ve been buying daffodils and jonquils – loving the bright sunshine look that they provide. And I do love to buy orchids for friends – the Singapore kind. They last a long time. But really, who doesn’t love flowers of any kind!?

  • Doh what happened to carnations …I love carnations in a vase as not only do they have a lovely perfume, look wonderful, they keep longer in a vase as to many others I find.

    CARNATION

If the carnation is your favourite flower, you’re very down to earth. However, you’ve got a tendency to like things just the way they are, thank you very much, and you’ve no rush to change anything. In fact, most of the time large changes make you somewhat fearful. But you’re great for a word of advice, and your friends know they can count on you to lend an ear and a hand. The finest way to wear a carnation is as a buttonhole motif when attired in suit and bowler

    You’re genuine and down-to-earth
Your friends trust you with their secrets and you are loyal and well-respected
You have a unique sense of style
    You have a reserved nature
People seek your guidance and advice as you’re practical and realistic
You’re content with the simple things in life and fear big changes
