If traditional family photos just aren’t your thing, this year ditch Santa for a throwback awkward Christmas portrait.

We’ve all seen them. They’ve usually been taken in the 70s and 80s and are awash with gaudy Christmas clothing, incredible hairstyles and less-than-festive faces.

This year Melbourne’s Studio on Hampton is offering awkward Christmas portrait sessions at a pop-up right up until Christmas eve.

The 30 minute sessions include three take-home prints and instant digitals for up to four people for $80. And you can bring your pet along if you like, because awkward isn’t just for humans.

While you are welcome to bring your own clothing for the shoot, the studio does also have Christmas clothes and props and you’re welcome to use them in your session.

Do you have an awkward family Christmas photo from back in the day? Tell us about it in the comments!

  • We never did Christmas photos like that. But I’m taking a Xmas photo of my twins every year since they were born. I wanna put the photos all in a frame together.

  • My kids can create these with no professional help!
