A baby shower is one of the nicest ways to celebrate with your nearest and dearest the fact that you’re about to become a mumma. But how do you make sure that your baby shower is different to everyone else’s? What can you do to ensure you and your guests have a truly special day?

Here are some baby shower ideas for different types of showers to make sure your day is as individual and special as the little bubba on the way.

1. Pick your favourite restaurant

Don’t feel like you have to stray from what you know and love just to make your day special. There are reasons why it’s your favourite place to eat and you know you will have a fabulous time. What is more personal and individual for YOUR day than your favourite venue?

2. Head to the Day Spa

Once your little one arrives opportunities will be few and far between to get a massage or full body scrub. Take full advantage of your current downtime. It wont be long before the closest you get to an organic vegetable facial scrub is cleaning pureed carrot off your eyelids after a direct hit from your little cherub!

3. High Tea

Stacks of finger food and sweet treats. Need I say more to a pregnant lady?

4. Head Away for the Weekend

Who says that a baby shower has to be limited to a few hours and you can’t have a ‘baby shower weekend extravaganza??’ Grab your closest friends and head somewhere completely impractical for someone with a baby  – because you still can!

5. Girls Only

The traditional baby shower. An oldie but a goodie. Even if you feel like you have been to a squillion girls only baby showers before, the fact that it is all about you and your little one makes it completely unique and special. Hiring some fabulous decorating items, introducing a theme or making a statement with your choice of entertainment are all ways to make sure your baby shower is different to all the others you have been to before.

6. Include Partners

Dads to be and other partners get the short straw when it comes to celebrating a new bubba. They are forced to head out with their friends to ‘wet the baby’s head’ and get drunk while you, the new mum, is stuck in hospital trying to figure out what to do with this little person that has suddenly appeared.

Um… Hang on a second…

Well, regardless – it’s still a nice idea to include the boys in your baby shower and a different way to spend the day. You will be surprised how excited they will get about the shower and the Dad-To-Be will be very grateful for the opportunity to gather some last minute tips and tricks from your friends.

7. Head to your local Watering Hole

It could be the last time you get there for a while! Just because you are pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t head to the pub. There aren’t many meals more satisfying than a counter meal which is always front of mind for a pregnant lady! And you can get some last minute brownie points stored in the bank by being the designated driver.
