As a mum of four boys, Kelly Luongo is a self-confessed nappy expert. So when the newest nappy brand launched in Australia, she was keen to try them out with her one-year-old … and she says she’s now a convert.

With kids aged between 11 and one, Kelly is a busy mum, working full time, and embracing the daily chaos of raising her boys. She’s a regular IGA shopper, with two stores nearby, and was intrigued when she discovered the retailer had launched its own, affordable nappy and wipes range – BabyBoo.

“When there’s a new nappy on the market, you want to test it out,” Kelly told Mouths of Mums.

“For me and having four boys, we tested every single nappy out there on the market.

“So when I heard that IGA had released their BabyBoo brand of nappies, I was really excited. Because it meant that I was going to be able to grab nappies and wipes from the same place that I was going to get my milk and my bread and all the basic essentials that I need when I’m just running in and running out. And, yeah, having tested them and knowing how great they are, it’s just the cherry on the top.”

  • Size 3 Crawler 56 pk
  • Size 4 Toddler 50 pk
  • Size 5 Walker 44 pk
  • Size 6 Junior 40 pk

As well as BabyBoo Nappy Pants, which retail for $9.50 per pack and come in Size 5 Walker (23 pk) and Size 6 Junior (21 pk).

These dermatologically tested nappies have no added nasties, embossed top sheets, wetness indicators, a wide waistband and provide up to 12 hours of leakage protection, day and night – which Kelly experienced first hand!

“I guess one of my biggest expectations around a nappy is that it’s going to be able to hold what it says that holds overnight. So I think a lot of the nappies that we have tried previously, particularly with baby boys, we often wake up multiple times throughout the night because they have wet through the nappy, because that absorbency just isn’t there.”

“So after trying these nappies for about nearly two weeks now, we haven’t had one wet through overnight time, which is great.”

Kelly admits for her first two boys, she did tend to stick to one particular brand of nappies and wipes, but she eventually gravitated towards finding a nappy brand that works, and is affordable.

“For my third and fourth baby, that kind of brand snobbery had kind of like disseminated a little bit, you know, we’ve basically tried them all. I think as mums, you know what you look for in a nappy.

“Price point for us is important. Australia’s kind of experiencing a massive financial situation at the moment, and the cost of living is going up for me, having a nappy and a brand for baby that is not going to be sacrificing on the things that I need, it’s a no-brainer for us.”

What Kelly loves about BabyBoo Nappies and Wipes

After trying out the BabyBoo brands for the past couple of weeks, Kelly says she’s fallen head over heels for the nappies and wipes.

She’s a fan of the BabyBoo Wipes – in particularly the scented: “They have a beautiful scent that, actually, they smell like roses. It’s so nice.”

Kelly says the design of the BabyBoo Nappies is also a big plus: “On the front, the wet line is more distinct in this brand, so it is much easier to identify when the baby is wearing the nappy that it is wet from a visual look, because the line down the centre is a little bit more prominent, which is great.”

The busy mum says she’s keen for other mums to try out the BabyBoo range at their local IGA, because they won’t be disappointed.

“I am very big believer in not recommending things unless I would genuinely use them myself. I would never be a parent or a mum. I would never lead a mum down a garden path if I wasn’t prepared to walk on that path with them.

“There’s nothing about this nappy or this brand that I would be discouraging people to use. There is nothing about the brand that I’m not happy with. So yeah, it’s, it’s 100% a brand that I would be recommending.”

This Real Mum Story was provided as part of a paid sponsorship opportunity. Kelly was chosen to share her story because she tried out BabyBoo Nappies and Wipes, and genuinely loved them!

  • Overnight really is the test for nappies.

    • I have to agree with you, there are a few brands out there that don’t work at night. It is so good to see another brand on the market that is cheap and does the trick.

  • Couldn’t agree with the rave reviews about the nappies more. They are great, no leaks at all occured and we started mix feeding while trialling. Highly recommend. I hate to say it though, I didn’t like the wipes. Maybe I got a bad pack, but I didn’t find them very moist.

We generally use CUB nappies but these are just as great, and they’re cheaper so I switch between which ever shop I’m at now
