Hello!

We were so excited when we heard about the launch of the new Kmart Sausage Roll Maker. But it has just been one disappointment after another as we’ve failed over and over again to get our hands on one of these popular appliances.

Kmart seems to do it to us all the time. They tantalise us with a new product and then dramatically underestimate demand so only three people in the whole world actually manage to get the new appliance.

Maybe the powers at the Kmart top are sneakily clever.

Super Sneaky!

It’s basic economics that scarcity drives up demand. So they release a few sausage roll makers just to make the rest of us green with envy and whip us up into a frenzy. By the time we actually get hold of the appliance, we’re so emotional, we cry giant hot (happy) tears over our coveted purchase and share our success with every social platform at our fingertips.

No matter what the strategy behind the shortage is, I’m one of its victims and I’m downright desperate to somehow find a spot on my crowded kitchen bench for that elusive sausage roll maker.

Here’s The Bad News….

While I hate to be the bearer of bad news, it’s my duty to tell you like it is. I’m not going to pretend that you’ll miraculously find a sacred mountain of sausage roll makers in store tomorrow or even next week. Sorry, it’s just not going to happen.

It’s Happening Again

It was the exact same story with the original Kmart pie maker. It took me months to finally get my own machine (and boy, practically the whole country heard my shrieks of joy when I found a real live pie maker sitting on the shelf!). But now you can saunter into just about any Kmart store and pick up a pie maker anytime you like. Even the family pie maker is in abundance, just waiting for a new place to call its home.

So yes, I fully suspect we’ll follow the same trend for the sausage roll maker. But seriously, I just.don’t.want.to.wait! I’ve already joined all the facebook groups (cults) dedicated to the adored sausage roll makers and my feed is flowing with scrumptious pics of flaky, meaty sausage rolls and scrumptious desserts, like the already famous Mars Bar pastry roll or the make-at-home Maccas apple pie. I want to create these treats right now! I don’t want to wait until the Kmart exec team decides that we’ve been tortured enough already and release the stock just gathering dust in the warehouse.

So When Will The Sausage Roll Makers Be Back In Stock?

taste.com.au did the dirty work for us and had a heart-to-heart with a Kmart rep about when we’ll be put out of our misery.

Apparently the spokesperson said that the sausage roll maker has been ‘incredibly popular’ (wow…what a surprise?) and that “stock levels are extremely low across the country.” We shouldn’t be discouraged though and should  “keep an eye online at Kmart.com.au or in store for stock availabilities”. Hmm…sounds a bit like a brush-off to me.

And here’s the big bad news…the Kmart sausage roll maker won’t be fully restocked until the end of July.

“We can confirm that another delivery is scheduled to arrive towards the end of July,” the in-the-know Kmart person said.

Seriously, that’s over two months of waiting and drooling pathetically over all the creations I can’t make. It’s just not fair!

But in the meanwhile, I’ll continue to stalk the stores and online, and who knows, I may get lucky!

  • taste.com.au is an excellent recipe site. It has a space where you can type in things such as ingredients you have that you want to use or you can also put things like dairy free, gluten free, egg free etc. For those who are interested there is a lot of recipes that are both gluten free and dairy free. Perfect for people have Coelic Disease, wheat allergy or have to have dairy free (often people needing that are lactose intolerant).
The only advantage of this gadget if children make sausge rolls and other suitable food but are not allowed to use the oven this may be a good gadget for them. Some children are not confident in geting food out of an oven because of the heat when they open the door or they don’t watch out for smaller children who may touch the oven. There is often a first time when it is not expected and children cooking tend to forget to watch the little ones

  • I won’t be purchasing one. We don’t need another appliance in the kitchen.

  • Anything I can do with with a Sausage Roll maker Ic an do without one and do more of them at the same time too. This appliance is a way to encourage us to use more pastry, which has no nutritional value. Make rissoles not sausage rolls, throw away any idea of Mars Bar rolls, just roll you own spinach and ricotta rolls. Be afraid of turning into an American is health and body- shape!

  • Wow, I didn’t know this was even a thing. Boy, I sure am out of the loop! I guess that’s what happens when you don’t use social media.

  • Wow! I didn’t think sausage roll makers would be that popular given it’s not that difficult to make them by hand!

  • I like making my sausagerolls by hand. Not sure I’d so it in a making

  • It’s not something I really need but I hope everyone who wants one can find it on the shelf sooner rather than later

  • It sounds like a great product and my hubby just loves sausage rolls. Oh well, I have an air fryer that cooks any form of pastry perfectly so I don’t need another appliance to clutter the kitchen cupboard

  • It’ll still be winter when it arrives back in stock, Chilly nights and warm sausage rolls = lovely :)

  • I never looked for it as I need to stop getting all the new appliances

    Reply

  • Surely it’s easier to just chuck it in the oven… it would probably cook quicker too

  • Another unnecessary appliance. Dont mind to make it my way.

  • Don’t see what all the fuss is about, just make them and cook in the oven.
Do you really need another appliance to clutter up the kitchen when there is already an oven in it?

    • Exactly, I don’t see the use of this item either.

  • I never own one.No intend to buy it.

  • I don’t really get the hype of this one, it’s not hard to make a sausage roll in the oven
