Mouths of Mums is all about creating a space where mums can connect – talk, ask, advise and share.
In fact we’ve got thousands & thousands of mum members who are always on the lookout for information, advice, hints, tips and of course a laugh!
And because we’re all mums, we know there’s no better source of information than another mum just like us!
Why be a MoM Blogger?
One of the main reasons you might like to consider blogging for Mouths of Mums® is to give either yourself or your business (or both) EXPOSURE.
Right now, close to 14,000 mums receive our newsletters, just under 7,000 fans on facebook see the articles we post on our Wall and thousands of new visitors each month stop on at least 3 different pages when they visit Mouths of Mums®.
What is involved in being a MoM Blogger?
Blogging is basically writing for the web. It’s a particular style of writing that takes a little practice and a basic understanding of the way blogs work. Don’t worry though – if we love the way you write, we’ll help you with the technicalities!
If you have an area of expertise, a passion or a hobby, this is what you should focus on in your blog. It’s always easier to write about something that interests you. Our MoM Bloggers are all different; Kate Freeman is a nutritionist, Amanda Thornton is a paramedic, Christine Kininmonth is an inventor and an entrepreneur, Deb Barr is a financial adviser and then there’s MoM herself – who shares stories about her children, her kitchen, her life and how to cope with all of the above!
For the MoM Bloggers who have a business, a website or a facebook page, you can link their blog posts back to their own site. This basically promotes their business while also providing great information.
Is the position of MoM Blogger paid?
We would love to say that our mums get paid however we are a fledgling business and put everything into making Mouths of Mums® the best it can be for our members.
One day we’d love to but in the meantime, just think of all the free exposure you’ll be receiving. Advertising like this would cost thousands!
What do I do if I’m interested?
If you’d like to be considered as part of the MoM Blogger team, you need to apply. A bit like a job interview but a lot less pressure!
Email a sample article (with pictures if you have them) as well as at least 5 other story ideas that you think you would like to write in the future. This will give us a feel for whether or not your writing style and your ideas are a good fit with the other MoM Bloggers.
Have a look through the MoM Blog and some of the other blogs you really like to get some inspiration and then show us your stuff!
What is very important to know is any and all of the material you write for Mouths of Mums need to be original. Copying existing content (from your site or another) creates problems for Mouths of Mums® and you.
Quick … apply to be a MoM Blogger!
Email your ‘application’ (your sample article and ideas and a link to your website if you have one) to nikki@mouthsofmums.com.au. Please note applications must be emailed – we are unable to accept any applications via facebook, phone or snail mail.
Entry is open to all mums and applications are being accepted until midnight 29 February 2012. There won’t be a big reveal of all the MoM Bloggers all at once – we’ll simply introduce each mum to you as they publish their first article.
What if I’m selected to be a MoM Blogger?
If we love the work you’ve shown us, we’ll get in touch as soon as possible. We’ll talk to you about the amount of time you would like to commit to being a MoM Blogger and we’ll put together a blog plan that works for everyone.
Some of our mums contribute content every couple of weeks whereas others are less frequent. It’s all about making it work for everyone.
