The battle of the collectables begins! Coles announced Little Shop 2 is returning to stores this week and shortly after Woolworths announced their own promotion, with Lion King Ooshies.

Both promotions are very similar, they have collector cases, you spend $30 to get a collectable and they both start this Wednesday July 17.

The Ooshies collection will feature 24 Ooshies, featuring 9 favourite characters from The Lion King, including Simba, Nala and Mufasa in original colours and gold versions. Shoppers receive an Ooshie for every $30 they spend from July 17. More details here.

Coles Little Shop 2 will also begin on July 17, with 30 new miniature collectibles up for grabs. Read more on them here.

Who will win?

In our Facebook poll on Friday it has been made pretty clear that Woolworths “Ooshies” have our mums’ vote over Coles Little Shop with 78% of the votes going to Woolworths. A similar poll on other pages also saw the votes in favour of Ooshies.

Which one will you be collecting?

  • I wish they would stop doing these promotions because 1. i don’t need any more stuff in my house, and 2. with the world trying to reduce the use of plastic this is really not helping.

  • I shop at both and collecting both. Giving some to nephews and friends kids as well as my kids. They love Coles minis. The others love lion king. I shop wherever is convenient and not changing my shopping for these collections, but if there then will get them.
The Coles minis are great for pretend play.

  • I will collect both if I reach $30 but I am not going out of my way to get them.

  • Interesting that both shops are running a similar promotion at the same time.

  • Lion King. Purely because out nearest Coles is 60km away and our Coles aligned petrol station was taken out of town 6 months ago. My sister however is most likely getting little shoppers for us and I’ll collect a set of Lion King for her (she’s 32 next month and it has always been her favourite animated picture)

  • I won’t be collecting either – these things just end up in the tip down the track – more garbage that shouldn’t be there in the first place.

  • I will collect both as I shop at both places and my kids love them all. I like that the Ooshies are something different and my kids also like putting them on the ends of pencils. However, the kids get lots of use out of the little shops as well in their pretend play.

  • I can understand with the release of the movie that the Woolies one will tug at the heart strings. But the Coles one has longevity in terms of time and offerings to collect. I don’t shop at Woolies so will collect from Coles as part of my weekly shop.

  • Not surprised that the Lion Kings beats the other because it is different and coles promo is just a repeat, kids like to have different things, and with the movie being released it is popular too.
