Kiwi soprano songstress extraordinaire Hayley Westenra, who holds the distinct honour of having the fastest selling debut classical crossover album of all time, has created a collection of lullabies for the Royal Baby.. Hushabye.

Hushabye is a collection of favourites such as Twinkle Twinkle and Hushabye Mountain alongside timeless classics that reach beyond the realm of lullabies, like Dream A Little Dream Of Me and All Through The Night as well as Sleep On, a lullaby written for the Royal Baby by composer Paul Mealor, who was personally chosen by Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to compose a piece for their wedding in 2011.

Hayley has dedicated Hushabye to all new parents and babies the world over, and to celebrate the Royal Baby has decided to give a free copy of Hushabye to every child born in Australia on the same day as the Royal Baby.

  • Last night it was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star that got the baby to sleep.

As for my nearly 3 year old, I tend to just make something up as I go.

    Usually something like

“Close your eyes, close them tight
Time for little Lara to say Goodnight,

    Snuggle down, Snuggle deep,
Time for little Lara to go to sleep,

The sun has gone to rest its head,
So its time for Little Lara to go to bed,

The moon is out, the stars are too,
They’re shining brightly down on you,

Singing (Start from the top again).

  • Rock a by baby was our favourite, but now Hayley’s Sleep On is our new favourite

  • Love them all, especially the ones that help me get my 3 girls to sleep so I can have time to myself.

  • This would be a god send as i have to sing lullaby’s for hours to get my 3 yr old to sleep and my voice could do with a rest

  • My little girls favourite is Twinkle twinkle but we also use songs like some where over the rainbow and rainbow connection I just love the muppets and Oz so those songs are sung a lot by both my husband and I to lull our daughter to sleep.

  • Rock a bye baby

  • Twinkle Twinkle Liuttle Star is the favourite in our household.

  • I sing ‘Hush Little Baby’ which is very fitting as DD is very spoilt by her daddy.

  • You Are My Sunshine: Though not a traditional lullaby, this tune completely captures how I feel about my children.

  • Personalised lullabies called “Asha Fancy-pants” and “One Millie, Two Millie, Three Little Millie Moos”!

  • My little one loves ‘twinkle twinkle little star’ sung softly to her as I rock her to sleep.

  • My mum would sing a lullaby to my brothers and I that she made up for her brothers. I sing it to my little one

  • Twinkle Twinkle Liuttle Star is the favourite in our household.

  • I also like the song from Wizard of Oz sung by Judy Garland, Over the Rainbow.

  • My poor boy is constantly sick and uncomfortable this would be lovely at night time

  • hush a bye baby is a good one

  • Please Pick my Little 4mth half kiwi son I Love playing music singing to him, Im playing/wearing the cds he currently has out his bored he would love this

  • I always sing to my son the song Lullaby by KD Lang.
    Golden slumbers fill your eyes
Smiles await you when you rise
Sleep little darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

It’s a beautiful song. Unfortunately my singing voice is terrible!

  • My 13 month old son puts his fingers together, trying to do the actions, to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’. He then says Baa Baa afterwards.

  • Twinkle twinkle little star. When my son could not sleep, I will sing this song. It helps him fall asleep.
