  • When renovating a kids bedroom, remember this
Childhood is a time for fun, games and pure bliss
    Make sure you limit technology
Make the room a ‘tech free’ sanctuary
Consult mummy blogs and magazines for inspiration
And make sure that what you put in their inspires their imagination

  • Plan the room with your child because they are the ones who have to sleep in the room!

  • Make it simple and bright and fill it with books and THEIR favourite things not yours.

  • Ask your child, get them involved and you don’t have to spend much – a bit from Aldi, Kmart & Bunnings and you’re away!

  • My favourite kid’s room makeover tip is to chose a couple of colours as the theme and use exciting toys, cushions and accessories to make it a beautiful home.

  • putting a mural over the walls

  • Keep the walls one colour and change the colours of curtains and rugs and bedspreads to grow with the children

  • Make the room light and bright with big decals on the wall and a great night light.

  • giving the child the choice of a few self approved calming colours, minimal distractions / clutter decorating . Always have one or two of their favourite characters on the wall so they feel content to be alone. Anchor furniture to the walls

  • Reluctantly get rid of half of the toys and teddys that are never used, will make the room a heap more tidy for the makeover to be more effective

  • kmart and the reject shop have heaps of cute decor items if you shop on a budget

  • Colour and accessories, cushions, wall mounts etc. covering and blankets

  • Storage boxes for the toys can be simply sorted into: Soft toys and dress-ups; Puzzles, games; “hard” toys (cars, instruments); building blocks/Lego. Fifth: use the top of the boxes as bookshelves.

  • Keep it simple. Kids rooms are a place for sleeping so subtle colours and no clutter.

  • Somewhere thats not too cluttered but she can still have all her favourites things and still get a good nights sleep

  • Keep it simple and practical. The simplist things aren’t a good investment unless you get good use from them. Use what you already have for styling eg well displayed books and iconic toys

  • Change bedding and pillows which are themed so when they grow up you aren’t painting walls and such

  • Get beds which are easy to make, not all bunks or high beds are practical

  • my favourite kids makeover is making there bedroom into a fantasy room

  • Splurge on the key pieces in the room…the bed, chest of drawers or dressing table…and then style with cheaper pieces from variety stores and discount stores that can be changed, for minimal cost, as your child goes through different phases.
