What Mums Are Saying

@BowtifulChescaDoll (Mum to Chesca, 2 and Gabby, 6): “It’s great educational material for bilingual children and even parents to learn and recall some of the basic words, phrases and songs in Chinese (Mandarin).  I also highly recommend this for older children who will learn a lot of basic Mandarin words from this book.

“Chesca listened to me as she touched the correct pictures of each corresponding word I asked for in English.  When she switched to Chinese mode, I asked her to touch each picture again and repeat what the book said in Chinese. She did so well in listening to my instructions.  I love how this book keeps her engaged in learning both languages while being attentive!”

@Brayjoe828 (Mum to 4 children): “Dion had so much fun exploring 100 plus vocabulary words in English and Chinese.  I love how with the slide of a button your child can immerse in bilingual play.  This will help them build a strong and solid literacy foundation.”

bilingualkidspot.com: “Kids can either be immersed in bilingual play, or for families with a Chinese and an English-speaking parent, each parent can use the book in their native language.  With Chinese being one of the most spoken languages in the world, it is fast becoming a popular language to learn for English speakers.

“Learning a second language while young is so much easier than learning as an adult, when children are able to distinguish better between sounds and therefore, they are able to imitate and pronounce them more easily.”

For toddlers aged 12 months and over, the 100 Words Book – English-Chinese with Learning Activity Guide is available from Big W.

  • We are a bilingual family, able to speak a second language is awesome

  • Because it helps them were every the go in the world to speak a second language

  • Exploring a second language would have such a positive effect and it would benefit my son for the rest of his life. Chinese is one of the most commonly spoken languages overseas and it would provide him with job and study opportunities that speaking English alone wouldn’t get him there.

  • I’m Chinese and never made an effort to learn a second language so I’d really love my kids too, especially being part of their heritage

  • I am Chinese but it would such an advantage for my young children to start learning my mother tongue language. I always regret not teaching them from when they were born, but we all gotta start somewhere! They will be able to communicate with my parents!

  • Wow, there are a plethora of learning a second language as a child! I want my children to explore Mandarin Chinese so that they become effective communicators, promote cultural awareness and boost their listening skills and concentration! Learning a second language is an asset for when children are older.

  • We are Chinese but speak no Chinese so having this would mean Chinese lessons for the whole family so we can all be bilingual in no time..even if its just 100 words!

  • I’d love my child to be bi-lingual as it not only opens up opportunities later in life but also increases pathways in the brain, helping my child excel in all academic avenues.

  • My child is currently trilingual (Cantonese, English and teow chow). Have been wanting to teach him mandarin also so this would be perfect!

  • I love to travel, I want my kids to travel and I think a second language is so important to get the best from your travels

  • My daughter is Indian-Chinese, but her first is English. She is struggling to learn Chinese despite us trying to expose her using videos and music. I would love for my daughter to be able to communicate with her grandparents and also to learn and understand her Chinese heritage

  • all children should learn a second language the younger the better . helps with all areas of a childs education .travel to another country with language

  • I think it would great for kids to know a second language and be able to communicate

  • Not only would it help me as I’d very much like to learn Chinese lol but I think this would really help my autistic son learn to talk and interact more with myself his dad brother and sister ????

thank you for the opportunity to enter this competition for him

  • My son is learning Chinese at school and I’m interested in it too! I’m hoping he can slowly teach me but he has a little sister and this would be amazing for her to try

  • I say your mind is a sponge and you should explore every learning experience that life can offer you. Who knows in life when, where and even why a second language could be used. Wouldnt want to limit my childs life learning.

  • It will help increase their learning ability. Every kid should have this opportunity

  • Being bilingual is such an important skill. It not only lets you understand others, but connect with their culture and customs.

  • Why not

  • Living in a multicultural society not only having the ability to understand another language but to also respect, accept and understand that we are all different and speak different languages is very important to us
