LeapBuilders – Building Blocks that Talk!

LeapFrog is excited to introduce LeapBuilders, the first-ever talking building blocks range that combines construction and curriculum.

These really are smart building blocks! Via a selection of SmartStar units, the various LeapBuilders blocks interact and respond. As small people build and create, they also learn and explore.

Each SmartStar Unit lights up and responds with music and learning phrases when a block is inserted into it.

With four different sets to choose from and twistable blocks made for little hands, children will be able to foster developmental skills – from hand-eye coordination to spatial reasoning and counting skills. LeapBuilders inspire open-ended creativity, develops early building skills, and encourages role-play.

What’s more, all the sets can be mixed and matched to extend the fun, inspiring open-ended creativity and fun exploration!

LeapBuilders Phonics House

Little builders can pretend to pop on their hard hats and construct a delightful home with more than 50 pieces, including two play people. Children can follow the simple instructions to build a house, robot or train, or use their imagination to build something else entirely. Slide one of the 20 double-sided blocks into the interactive SmartStar Unit to learn letter names, first words, sounds, colours and shapes. Press the question, music and number buttons for even more learning fun. LeapBuilders Phonics House plays more than 80 songs, melodies, sounds and phrases.

LeapBuilders Wild Animals

Children will learn about animals, colours, foods and first words while building this 16-piece animal set. LeapBuilders Wild Animals will respond with over 120 phrases, sounds and songs whenever one of the double-sided blocks is inserted into the interactive SmartStar Unit. Press the learning and music buttons for even more learning fun.

LeapBuilders Fix-It-Truck

Little mechanics can construct two cool vehicles and a whole lot more with these 30 easy-to-hold pieces. Children can follow the simple instructions to build a crane, truck, or a train engine or use their creativity to construct anything they can imagine using regular and movable blocks. Slide one of the 15 recognisable blocks into the interactive SmartStar Unit to learn colours, numbers, tools and counting. Press the learning and music buttons for even more learning fun. LeapBuilders Fix-It-Truck plays more than 100 songs, melodies, sounds and phrases.

LeapBuilders Elephant Adventures

Children will learn about fruits, numbers, colours and insects while building this 21-piece elephant set. The elephant will respond with over 115 phrases, sounds and songs whenever one of the double-sided blocks is inserted into the interactive SmartStar Unit. When they are finished, they can follow instructions on the included building cards to build a shop or combine with other LeapFrog block toys to learn and build in different ways.

LeapFrog LeapBuilders are suitable for ages 18 months and over, and available from Big W, good toy stores and online retailers.

  • My 2 year old loves animals and constantly tries to make them with his blocks…they look the same as when he builds towers but he makes the noises and tells me which animal it is.

  • A truck or crane with the fix it truck. Its perfect for a four year old learning and being creative. This would further develop his creativity and interest at the same time with simple instructions for children while learning colours numbers and shapes and a added bonus with sound.

  • My toddler loves garages and caravan and cars so I think this is what he will make with the leap frog.

  • Since starting Kindergarten at 3 & a 1/2, my daughter loves building blocks. These one look like great fun for her and myself

  • I mean the only limit is her imagination. She is so creative she could take these blocks and do whatever her kind thinks up! Isn’t that the beautiful of creating

  • A princess castle because she likes to be a princess and leave in a castle :)

  • A house with many windows a hallway and a swimming pool, a big shed. Possibly my 6 year olds future dream house

  • An ice-cream shop, it is something that is usually bright and colourful, stirs the imagination and the tummy, and who doesn’t like ice-cream!

  • A truck, my grandsons are mad for them and their sister would give them a run for their money also.

  • Visited a zoo these holidays…A zoo.. animal shelters and enclosures, golf buggy for zookeepers to carry food to animals, an animal hospital.. even the cafe for visitors.

  • A castle. She wants to be a princess

  • Anything that has wheels or anything that resembles a house, he loves cars, trucks, bikes and building things!

  • Probably a Unicorn as its all 3 of my girls favourite animal

  • My boy loves to build towers and then knock them down, he finds it hilarious

  • Towers. Such fun to build them up and then let them crash down to start all over again!

  • An aeroplane – because we can’t go one so let’s try and build one

  • Well I would need to hide it till his older or else he will try eating them all haha

  • Dog train

  • A tower of course. The higher the tower, the more fun it is when it falls. Well, for my son at least (1). My 4 year old daughter prefers to build complex, Dr Seuss style houses that make me wonder what it would be like if it were built in real life. Probably a declared disaster zone more precarious than the leaning tower of Pisa, but that’s why imaginations are so much more fun as a child

  • LeapBuilders would be amazing for my kids, one would build a Big princess castle & the other would try to build a dinosaur.
