Hello!

There are many milestones we as parents all hope to experience with our kids, but sometimes someone else beats us to the punch… were you there for all of these little milestones with your kids?

It’s nothing short of amazing to watch your baby develop into a little person. Here are some of the fun experience milestones that you won’t want to miss!

1) The first swim

They’ll either love it or hate it and the expression on their little face will say it all.

2) The first haircut

Your child’s first haircut can be really fun or a bit scary. Some are born with what seems like a full head of hair and are quite young when they need their first haircut while for others it may seem their hair is taking forever to grow. Did you keep a lock of hair from your child’s first haircut?

3) The first bath

Did you give your baby their first bath? Often the first bath is given by the nurse in the hospital while you watch and learn hoping you will be able to do it with the same amount of ease. It’s priceless to see and hear their reaction to being in the water for the first time.

4) The first Santa visit

It’s so exciting when your child’s first Christmas approaches. Most parents can’t wait to put their kids in their favourite outfit and take them to see Santa for the first time. The challenge is to get them to sit still long enough so you can get a gorgeous shot (or at least one where they aren’t crying).

5) The first bike ride

No matter what age your child rides their first bike it’s an exciting and also nerve racking time. Some take to it with ease and in no time have progressed to no training wheels while some are a little more cautious.

6) Taking that first bottle

Getting your baby to take their first bottle can be difficult and can take numerous attempts but once they get the hang of it there are smiles all around.

7) Eating their first finger food

It’s exciting to see your child pick up their first piece of finger food and attempt to put it in their mouth.  The challenge is to actually get it into their mouth rather than all over the seat of the highchair where they sit on it.

8) First taste of solid food

Most babies’ eyes light up and can’t wait to have their first taste of solid foods. Watch that little face as they experience the different textures.

9) That first time in a swing

Seeing a child smiling in a swing at the park with other kids always puts a smile on your face.

10) Losing that first baby tooth

Losing that first tooth can happen anywhere at anytime so often you may not be around. There is no doubt that as soon as they see you they will let you know they need to put the tooth out for the fairies.

11) Tasting ice cream

Most kids love ice cream. How did your child react to their first taste of ice cream?

There are many milestones in your kid’s lives. Please SHARE with us your child’s first milestones.

  • They are precious memories and they don’t stop there. First smiles, first steps, first words are as exciting as first day at school, first day at high school, and first day driving. Thanks for the reminder of these magical moments.

  • I was fortunate enough to be there for all of my baby’s milestones listed above. Whilst they’re wonderful at the time though, parents shouldn’t feel guilty if they miss any of them. I wrote down the dates, etc. but if you asked me from the top of my head when they happened, I can’t recall them! First day of 3 year old kinder was great. We just watched it on DVD and it really took me back. My son’s excitement at going to ‘big school’! Then the following year, his first day at official preschool was exciting. They all mean something. His first day at Primary School, now that was big. We claimed that for ourselves and wanted the moment with our son without all the family, relatives, etc. It was special. It was grown up. It was emotional for me, not so much for my son!! He was ready.

  • I was definitely there for all of these milestones, except for the bottle. My duaghter wouldn’t take a bottle when she weaned, she didn’t like the teat so she went from breast to a sippy cup with a soft rather than hard plastic spout.
