Absolutely would be pushing for a referral to dermatologist. Giving him a antihistamine and seeing if that also helps

That definitely sounds like an allergic reaction, poor love. I would get a full allergy test done and speak to dermatologist about skin allergies.

Absolutely get a second opinion. I’m not a medical professional, but to me it sounds like it could be allergies. Especially the internal itchiness.
The obvious things are to switch to hypoallergenic body wash, laundry liquid etc. and keep a food diary. The main thing is to believe your son – and empathise with the itchiness he’s experiencing. Of course you can also try over the counter antihistamines, which your pharmacist can help you with. Good luck!

Allergy? I’d ask my GP for a referral to an allergist. It might just be a mild reaction to something your child is eating, a pet, dust mites or an organic matter in your immediate surroundings eg. grass, flowers. An itchy throat is definitely concerning enough to get your doc to at least investigate further.

Maybe you should get him tested for food allergy. Food allergies cause itchy skin and it worries me that he feels it in his throat. Monitor his food and see if something particular brings on the itchyness and maybe see an allergist.

It took me years to find a GP who was any help for my 4 year old. He was prescribed something that actually works, and referred on to a specialist. I think what helped most was antihistamines, regular over the counter hay fever pills/liquid. Get some from the chemist and see if that has any effect whilst you look for a doctor who will take you seriously. all the best

The itching, not so much, it could just be a mental thing. But putting his fingers down his throat cos its itchy……GP visit for sure. Keep going, get 2nd opinion if you have to, til you get answers

That’s concerning, and a pity your GP hasn’t taken it seriously. My first thought was to suggest seeing an allergist. I have food allergies with make me feel like there’s ants crawling under my skin, which also caused itching and tightening of my throat. So it’s probably worth exploring that first. If that yields no results, then perhaps see a dermatologist and an ENT for the throat issue.

Are there any other symptoms ? That’s a pity your GP doesn’t take it serious. I would visit GP again and ask for a referral to see a pediatric Dermatologist indeed. When the GP is unwilling then make an appointment without a referral. You don’t absolutely need a referral to see a dermatologist, however, your health insurance company may not cover the visit without a referral.

It sounds like he might be in a constant allergic reaction to something…or everything? I would make an appointment with a specialist/dermatologist to see if they can see what is happening.
