Hello!

We have just found out our 6th grandchild is a baby boy & is due in November. I would love to get something unique & different for this little one so any suggestions I would be grateful.

  • Not really unique but I really liked the plaster set for hand and foot print, and the wee boxes for the first hair locks and teeth.

  • a phot session for lasting memories to be captured. Zoo membership for later,

  • I like the suggestions that have been made.

  • What about a really nice photo frame . These days they come in silver, gold , ceramic etc and they normally make it with a cute design especially for new baby etc..

  • I suggest you have a look at Identity Direct. They have heaps of original baby gifts, as well as older kids and even mum and dads. What’s New is good for unique gifts too

  • If you choose to make clothes and give, can I suggest that you don’t give newborn size. So many people do that. Babies grow out of them so quickly that soemtimes they don’t even wear all that they are given. I suggest you give a larger size that baby will grow into.
Another suggestion is an unusual baby toy, a night lamp that them Mum can use at night to attend to and feed baby instead of a normal bright light.

  • A set of 2015 coins from the mint, a nice keepsake

  • Thanks Christial, I have looked into these also.

  • I think the personalised gifts is a wonderful idea! Something your new grandson can keep forever

  • Congratulations! I think a birthday teddy is a great idea. There are lots of Facebook businesses that do personalised art prints as well if you wanted something earlier. Some do digital designs and email for you to print out. Much quicker than waiting for postage.

  • Thanks again for the ideas, it is really appreciated.

  • There is a company that personalise items for bubs. They have toys, clothes, Bec clothes, cutlery, clocks. I think they’re brilliant. They’re called Identity Direct, check them out, I’m sure you’ll find something unique and something you’ll love

  • I guess it depends on the type of gifts you bought or made for your other grandchild (i.e. it affects the budget). I also thinks good quality, hardcover books are great but they will last and last and will be something to put away for his children. But the idea of knitting/ crocheting a special blanket is beautiful and my little girl got one from her grandmother. I’ll be looking after it for her until she’s ready for it.

  • Love the idea of a birthday teddy, see answers, provided it is soft and cuddl. I made my son a scarecrow doll and he loved it, he would bring it out first thing in the morning and would take it to bed with him.

  • what about personalised art with his name. I got this amazing one as a baby gift, i will have to come back later and post where it was from, as it is in the baby’s room and he is currently asleep.

  • Thanks everyone for your ideas.

  • We will buy a Birthday Teddy for this new addition just like we did for his brother & other cousins for their arrivals but we wont have it ready until Xmas as they have the name, birthdate & weight to stitch on it’s paws.

  • Something personalised perhaps? Websites such as Identity Direct have some lovely baby gifts that can be personalised.

  • My daughter got a cute set of silver cutlery with her name engraved in them. Could it be something for you?

  • Congratulations! My husband’s mother did a knitting course and made our daughter a cotton blanket. We didn’t use it much as she was born in summer and the blanket is quite heavy but it is something special that she can keep and eventually pass onto her children. Otherwise a photography voucher for family portraits is always nice
