Hello!

Since we moved to our current home 4 years ago, our neighbour has gone out of her way to make our family’s life difficult. She dobs on us for anything she thinks she can, every time an officials comes to check accusations out, they say “What a waste of their time” because we’ve done nothing wrong. In principle I won’t move my family, my child has been barked at while walking past their home and they sent thugs to beat my husband, any advice on what we can do please?

  • I hope your situation has improved over time.

  • Obviously, call the police if actual violence is occuring. See if you can take out a restraining order.

  • Any reasons offered for why they’re being so horrid? It’s unusual for stuff like this to get happening with no reason whatsoever

  • I hope things have improved.

  • How is it going now ? Has the situation improved ?

  • report them if really bad but try to leave them alone

  • Sorry to hear you’re in this situation. Wonder if you ever tried to talk with these people to try to find out what exactly the reason is for their behaviour and what the problem/grudge is between you ?
Besides that I think it’s a good plan to write every incident down and report them. And when you’re in the possibility to move, do so.
Always do the right thing in the meantime.
I once had a neighbour who totally went off at my kids for stepping on their driveway. Even though I thought she was totally unreasonable I baked her a “peace-cake”.
Another neighbour was fuming because my girl with Down syndrome left a hand print on their car and one of my foster children threw a mango pit in their garden. I had my foster child writing a sorry letter to them and I offered to wash their car for my girl who left a hand print. Later my girl with Down syndrome ran up to him and gave him a hug (lol, I think he was a bit taken by that) and once again I said sorry to him that she left a hand print on his car. They’re not kind to us, but at least he’s not ranting anymore.

  • Move out or involve the police every time,it seems like a terrible way to live.

  • I thought I had bad neighbours until I read your post. I hope you’ve been able to have some peace. I really don’t know what you can do.

  • Oh my, what a terrible situation. I would definetly report her to police and also your local council. Good luck!

  • if they are renters – complain to the real estate agent, shitty neighbours can make life really unhappy. call Council to see if they can assist. they may be able to use their prosecutor or local laws manager to call the person/s a ‘serial complainant’ and ask them to stop contacting council.

  • Write every incident down and when you have a few on paper, with dates and times, take it to the police. It sounds like you might live in government housing? Try talking to someone there, they might help too

  • Yes I agree with the diary idea, it’s just awfull what people can do to others.

  • if you could get some spare money together, get some cameras

  • Thanks fir tips every one ,we can’t move as no cash to do so or would have ,I’m keeping diary now !

  • Wow, good luck, is there any way you can speak to authorities? I’m sorry I havent got anything helpful, just hope it gets better

  • I have no advice, just wanted to say goodluck and i feel your pain

  • Hope you are looking after your own health and well being as stress can take its toll on you. Hope all members of your family are getting support too – how awful for your husband.

  • It’s frustrating and really unfair but there is not a lot you can do. We had similar years ago with a family including a 3am drug raid as the police searched our property looking for the neighbours. Fortunately they moved but the teen daughter is now friends with my daughter (and in a way I’m quite glad we didn’t do anything as I think it could have turned very nasty!)

  • Report them to police. Keep a diary on what happens dates times events. Go to the magistrates court and take a retraining order out on them. Fee waiver forms too and take bills. Only need two incidents to take this out. Your child will be protected if it states a third party. Each member can take one out. You have to fear for your life too. They will not then be allowed to do and say anything if this is on. You can get 12 months or life time on them. Any incidents that are broken then report to police. Let them breach it. Yous too will not be able to do anything after that
