Forum Any recommendations for a carrier or sling?

Hi, could you maybe please post a question for me? I’m about to deliver, just 2 weeks away and have little ones running around already. I know I’m going to need a carrier or a sling. Now the thing is that i’m confused between brands. The ones I think look nice are ergo baby, manduca, mini monkey and boba. Which one is really the best? I’m looking for something easy, something that I can keep bub in while breast feeding and it needs to be suitable for newborns and also one that wont cause me any back problems. Do you have any recommendations for a carrier or sling?

  • I can’t say which is best, but I have a mini monkey myself and find it very awkward to use and looks very uncomfortable for my 3week old. He will sleep in it but he looks very squashed and gets too hot in this summer heat

  • an ergo baby, but I use a baby bjorn

  • If you like the sounds of the Ergo but not the price tag, then the Manduca is very similar but cheaper.

  • We got given a second hand baby bjorn. It never felt right. We went to the baby expo and tried on an ergo. Got shown how to wear it, put it on and adjust it. We both (hubby & I) loved it. The only negative is that they Ergos, the baby is chest to chest with you. My advice would be to try and work out what works for you. Don’t buy one until after your baby is born and try them with your baby.

  • Oh no, Rach that’s so sad.. But I don’t see why you would put a baby in a sling underneath your shirt and jumper.. I imagine it would be quite obviously suffocating and stifling under all those layers.

  • ive just ditched my Hug a Bub, cause it just takes too long to put on, i now have an ergo, I love it, but you cant have them facing out, Mini Monkey have a new one similar to the ergo which you can have them facing out, a friend of mine has one and sweard by it, also with both the ergo and the mini monkey your babys hips are in the correct position.

  • With a sling you need to try it on some are much better than others

  • I have the baby bjorn active with the lumbar support, i find it really good, I have also heard that the ergo is good but i think you cant have them facing outwards on ur front..

  • I use a peanut sling for when baby is new and then when they get bigger and have better neck control I pop them in a baby bjorn.
