Hello!

My just 4 year old has been waking up 2-3 times per night for the past year. He says he has nightmares and wants to get into bed with us. If he is too noisy at night he wakes his 2 year old brother and then we need to settle both of them. My husband and I are exhausted and wondering if a gro clock might help. Any thoughts?

  • I’ve never heard of a gro clock, so unsure as to whether it could help. I would be inclined to settle him back in his bed. It will take a little while, so get used to some more exhaustion, but should work. Good luck

  • I have no idea what a gro clock is.

  • Never heard of a grow clock but we had the same issues with my son and he is nearly 4. I ended up putting a matress next to our bed for when he needed to come sleep with us. It doesnt happen to often so its ok

  • You need to keep him in his bed. Just store him and put him back in his own bed to sleep. He will learn soon enough that crying at night isn’t going to get him a ticket into your bed.

  • there are some good comments here

  • Hope some of the advice below has helped.

  • try a night light and his favourite toy for support

  • My advice is to calm him down with a cuddle and tell him all is well u are there for him and that he has to go back to his own bed it might take a few nights BUT never let him sleep in your bed … I think he is playing u kids are good at that lol

  • Sorry to say that a Gro clock was a miserable failure for both my kids – 18 months and 2 years. Although now the eldest is six, it does signal to him when he’s allowed to get out of bed in the morning. Never helped with settling either of them, though.

  • I don’t think a gro clock will help if its nightmares…..

  • Never heard of a geo clock but I hope things get easier soon for u!

  • My 10 year old still has nightmares and we decided in the early years to put a radio in her room (very low volume) and a night light and these worked for a while although every now and then she comes into our room for a cuddle. We have an open door policy and all our children are told that they are welcome there if they need any cuddles or are scared. We figured that they are only young once and we will get and give all the attention they need while they still need us. I don’t know if this helps but we raised 8 children with this policy so good luck

  • Some child maybe success with a gro clock so it depend.

  • what does the gro clock do? i heard about it lot

  • It’s worth a shot if nothing else is working

  • it is hard ,i’m not sure what a gro clock is,but every child is different i hope it works for you.

  • I have never heard of a gro clock. If you get one hope it helps

  • how are you going with it.

  • I have heard some great reviews about them, I’ve found that when my little man (who is no longer little) was going through the phase of night waking we would allow him to cuddle with us until he felt safe, I think that knowing he was allowed to seek comfort if he needed it made it less of an issue for him in the end.

  • I had the same problems with my 4 year old, tried a few things but the only thing that worked was keeping him in his own bed, giving him a cuddle and sitting with him until he went back to sleep, He soon got better over time with less and less time before going back to sleep with me in the end only having to walk in and tell him it was ok and he would roll over and go back to sleep. He eventually grew out of them. You could try the clock though. I say try anything within reason. Maybe a night light.
