Has anyone tried the Gold Class movie tickets? What’s included and is it worth it?

  • I think Gold Class is expensive, especially if you also order food.

  • We have a local Hoyts cinema that offers Gold Class seating for normal ticket prices. It’s extremely popular. The chairs recline and are very comfortable and you’re not too close to other people – great for social distancing.

  • I have a friend who always does it to treat her children. I don’t have the money for it but can imagine it’s lovely. Probably it’s a bit like a first class flight and how good would that be on a long overnight flight ?

  • They’re probably over priced, movie tickets in general are over priced. But it is fun and a little indulgent. If you can, wait til there’s a movie you really want to see and treat yourself

  • I love gold class. Comfy recliners whilst watching the movie. In SA Reading cinemas have dropped the price to $20 a ticket but this no longer includes the drink and nibbles. Still a great experience and treat.

  • I love Gold Class, it’s such a wonderful treat for date night. My husband and I usually use them for movies we have been really excited to see and didn’t want the standard experience where people talk through and ruin it. haha I also love that when we are having a date night it allows us to fit dinner in with the movie and that’s less time the grandparents have to stay at our house at night babysitting.

  • My daughter and I tried Gold Class about a month ago and we really enjoyed the comfortable reclining chairs. We didn’t end up ordering any food, and the movie wasn’t great, but overall I’m glad we tried it. I think it’s a bit too expensive to do often.

  • I really love it – just the space issue – I hate sitting really close to strangers, and there is nothing worse than having a big head in front of you, or feet in your back so I am all for it! The food is crap and very overpriced, but you can order food from the canteen/kiosk menu and they will bring that in to you too

  • you will probably enjoy it. ask the cinema what you get.

  • My kids gave me a Gold class movie this year and basically you are sitting on more comfy seats and you are able to eat and drink with a small table in front of you while you watch a movie . I think it is good on a special occasion to spoil yourself , but I wouldn’t be able to make a habit of it as it is not cheap . Just to arouse your curiosity go to one and see for yourself . You will feel the environment is different from the normal cinemas .

  • It’s great for a treat- cost gets you your seat and thats it- they do serve food and drinks through the movie but you need to purchase beforehand, and you tell them when you want everything- eg. Drinks at the start of the movie, meals at half-way etc.- Wouldn’t make it a regular thing though as it can be pretty costly.

  • Smaller cinema, larger seats, food and drinks served during movie. It is a nice experience but I don’t think it is worth the amount you pay

  • Thanks for the responses everyone. I’d like to try Gold Class at least once. I was hoping that perhaps a drink and some nibbles might be included in the ticket price.

  • My husband and I go occasionally, it’s worth it. For the comfy chairs, the service, the yummy food and a pretty much guarantee it won’t be full of kids making a heap of noise.

  • This will be a Christmas holiday treat! Thanks for the idea!

  • I have heard about them but never done it myself, would love to see the answers as well!

  • Why not! I wouldn’t buy them all the time but love it as a special occasion

  • I have never been, but would love to experience gold class. Maybe a treat to look forward to in the future?

  • love it as a special date night, we gets fully service bottle of wine and nibbles. Its proberly the only way we can garentee the movie will not be ruined by kids or other thoughless people in the cinema.

  • The ticket price only includes a seat, which is a recliner and much more comfy then standard seats. There are less people in the cinema as well. Food and drink are extra and can be pricey.
