Hello!

After having Influenza A last year and being sick for 6+ weeks, I’m thinking about getting a flu vaccination this year, and was just wondering if others are too? It’s not something I usually do, and the last one I had was when I was pregnant 4 years ago.

What are others doing?

  • I have one every year because of some medical conditions I have. Any illness I get at all can be very dangerous for me.
People who get the flu soon afterwards have usually been in contact with somebody who has / had the flu not long before.
When I was working we were offered free flu injections every year.

  • After having a severe reaction to a flu shot a few years ago I have been to terrified to go back for another.
My family members however get them every year without hassles.

  • No flu shots for us. Doesn’t seem to stop us from getting the flu through winter.

  • I had it for the first time last year … and then had the flu 3 times.

  • I have had one every year for the last few years as I’m considered as “at risk” due to having asthma. I have only ever had a short-lived cold if I do get one during winter, and seem to not catch them off other people as easily either. (Touch wood!!!)

  • I have the flu shot every year. I haven’t had a bad reaction and haven’t had the flu in ages.

  • My son and I had our today and my son was fine. We had to sit around for 10 minutes after to see if we had any reactions. So add 10 minutes to the planning time of your visit if you end up doing it.

  • No I have never had the injection but in saying that (touch wood) I dont usually get anything worse than a cold.
My husband has had the flu shot 2 times & both times not long after he has ended up bed ridden, he’s been so sick, which it takes alot for him to stay at home.

  • its certainly good insurance, the flu can be fatal on some cases

  • Yes I have booked ours in,

  • No not yet. They will be in next month. Hopefully i get a free one

  • Must admit I have not gotten the flu vaccine in many years now.

  • Anyone working in close contact with people are advised to get the shot & definitely the elderly should as they are at risk of serious problems if they get the flu.

  • I am getting the flu injection with my son on tomorrow. As a single mother I can’t afford to get sick and will do anything to help avoid my son getting sick. I was happy to find out this year it is $10 each, last year it was $25 each.

  • I already got mine in december and January,Before I flew to England. I usually always catch a bad flu when I go but this time I got a tiny sniffle as did both my girls so I will now be getting them every year if it limits our risk.

  • I am absolutely getting the Flu Vacc this year. I won’t be getting it for my kids as there have been too many cases of serious side effects in kids but the adult one is know to be very safe.

  • I have the Flu vaccine every year without fail. You see I have had Pneumonia 3 times and now I am over 65 I have had the pneumococcal pneumonia vaccine so this will reduce the chances of reoccurrence! The idea is that being vaccinated against the flu will help you be immune to it but if you do happen to get it, it will be of a lesser severity and easier to recover from. The trouble is that the flu is a VIRUS and it changes shape every year microscopically so the vaccine can only possibly cover 5 different strains a year! But the good news is if you have the vaccination it makes you less likely to get the flu at all.

  • I’ve never had the flu vac and I never will. My parents did last year and both of them ended up worse than they have ever had without having it. I get a little runny nose and occasional cough or cold, but nothing bad enough to warrant getting the flu vac.

  • I’ve never had it and thinking about it, already had a few colds/viruses this year but my gp says I need to be well to have it

  • No I won’t be getting one. I did get sick last year though so maybe I should reconsider.
