Hello!

What should I do with my baby girl? She is losing her baby hair and has a bald spot. Shave or leave it or something else? Btw she hates hats lol. TIA mummas.

  • Hair loss in newborns is very common, and nothing to worry about. Most hair loss in babies is caused by hormone changes after birth. Sometimes babies get bald patches from being in the same position repeatedly, but their hair will usually grow back by their first birthday.
Slightly older babies also can rub off a patch of their hair on the back of their head. The hair loss is from friction during head-turning against a firm surface. Examples are crib mattresses, playpens, activity mats and infant seats

  • Yes some patches is normal. I wouldn’t shave it but have regularly used the clippers on my youngest and found that the hair turned back more equal and thicker

  • I would leave it as baby hair grows quickly . You will not notice it if you don\’t focus on it too much .

  • Just leave it, it will grow back, its completely normal for babies to lose hair.

  • totally normal – they end up with really funky hair – baldy spots, mohawks its all fun

  • They usually loose the ‘first coat’ and regrow their actual hair colour which can change or be the same.

  • When my girl was about three or four months she started losing her hair. She ended up looking like Gollum! But she grew back a new head of hair really quickly. I wouldn’t worry.

  • Leave it, shaved heads on babies are terrible.

  • Most babies lose there baby hair, mainly from where it rubs on bedding etc. it is very natural. It will grow back, no need to do anything.

  • Lots of babies lose hair in patches where they “wear” it away. It will grow back and even out.

  • Leave it don’t shave. Most babies will have bald spots for losing hair. My daughter currently has one spot about the size of a tennis ball but if you look closely you can see hair starting to grow back. Babies don’t mind at all having bald spots or odd looking hair and I Sony think anyone looking at your baby is going to find when they see the gorgeous face.

  • Leave it. It is natural for a majority of babies to lose their hair. It will grow back. Both mine lost their hair and now have a ‘mop’ of hair. My youngest hated hats aswell. I don’t think people really bother about it when they are looking at babies.

  • It is very normal for babies to lose their first lot of hair and for it to be patchy … it will grow back better than before :) embrace it!!!

  • just leave it!! babies aren’t vain and no-one else cares! she’s just a bub, they all have weird hair at that stage.
