Hello!

I am mum of a 3 month old and she recently had her BCG vaccination. I was told by the nurse that the injection site will heal in around 12 weeks time after going red and suppurative, but to my surprise she didn’t had any redness there. What were your experiences?

  • My daughter had it at birth as part of a medical trial and it took a long time to heal, a couple of months and scarred quite bad.

  • Hope it all went well

  • I think its supposed to have a reaction. I remember reading to go back to clinics if it doesnt go red. I could be wrong

  • That’s a good thing, i was not so lucky with mine!

  • It’s always good when you get told the worst and then nothing happens. So glad this was a good experience for BUB.

  • my kids didn’t get reactions either

  • No reactions here either. I think they tell you what could happen just to warn you so you don’t come running back if it takes that long to heal!

  • I never got that warning when getting my son’s vaccs – in fact I’d be a little worried and disinclined to go through with it if I had; I haven’t heard of anyone taking 12 weeks to get over a vaccination (unless they’ve had a severe reaction).

  • My kids have all been fine too

  • there are some good comments here

  • must of not reacted to her as much

  • I agree, they usually give a worst case scenario. Great to hear it went well… Best outcome! ;)))

  • i hope it went well

  • My little one was a little tender for a few days. They tend to give you the worst case scenario so parents aren’t running to the hospital every 5 minutes thinking something is wrong!

  • One of my children had a red lump for a couple of days, and that’s all!

  • I have never had a problem with my children, every child is different and some react in a not too good way

  • Every child responds differently, they have to warn you of what to possibly expect and its usually worst case scenario, they also have to ask you to stay around for the following 10 minutes in case there is an acute adverse reaction, its very rare and this is just a precaution!

  • every child is different .

  • My daughter didn’t have any problems

  • Everyone is different….my middle child reacted badly to all vaccines and would end up in hospital every time. She would be extremely sick. :(
