Hello!

I have seen a few brands of modern mama cloth pads for that time of the month and was after true testimonies from different brands, wanting to know cost, absorbency/leakage, if there are any to steer away from, comfort, washing powder recommendations etc. Thanks

  • I’ve never heard of this so thanks for asking the question, I’m keep to follow the answers given

  • Fancy bringing these back! My mum and mother in law used to talk about cloth menstrual pads that required a strap to hold in place. Think I prefer the disposable ones

  • I remember my mum telling me about these from when she was younger but she came from a poor family so had to share with her sisters.

  • They are from the olden days when they didn’t have the adhesive strips. I’ve never seen them but it is pointless using them when you have convenience now .

  • Oh my god! Really?! I thought these went out when my mum was having periods! I gave never seen them on the shelves, anywhere, in any shop in Tasmania. I think it’s a bit gross actually, re usable period pads, don’t think I’ld buy them if I did see them

  • Good luck if you do use them. After hearing the experience of older generations that had to wash them and maintain them – I am thankful for disposable sanitary napkins!

  • Would never had thought off using them, thanks for giving the idea.

  • Omg I didn’t even know you could use cloth pads. When I use the normal pads I get iratation and its so annoying.

  • Not to sure but I hope other mums can help you with your question.

  • i have never used cloth before, but have always been a fan of libra disposible

  • I didn’t think they even got used anymore, goodluck in finding the right one

  • I admit that I had no idea that cloth pads were still in use. Not what I would choose to use them, but better for the environment, and possibly healthier for your body. It would remind me too much of washing out cloth nappies.

  • I am not sure, I am a fan of disposable so there is nothing around the home that is dirty

  • there are some good comments here

  • did you find anything :)

  • I love this site, I learn so many new things. Didn’t know they existed, I remember my mother telling me when they were young that’s all the had. Thank goodness for me there are other options. Sorry I cant help and goodluck finding one you like. Each to their own, its not for me but it doesn’t hurt me if others do so I hope you find what you are looking for,

  • I had not heard about these until now. Great question!

  • Thanks for asking this question. I was wondering this also :D

  • FYI you don’t need nappisan regular washing powder/liquid/gel will do.

  • If you are concernd about the ongoing costs of using disposable pads, most of the supermarkets have disposables on special every other week. Why make more hard work for yourself with having to deal with all the extra work using cloth pads could result in. Just think how much Napisan yiu would have to se to get them clean and fresh enough to se again…
