Hello!

Im expecting baby number 2 due in march. My son will be 18 months. We currently have a beautiful silvercross pram (we were only planning one child) which unfortunately is only a single. Are there ways to convert prams into a double? I’m not ready to fork out big dollars on a new double pram ut I guess I will if I have to.
I’ve been looking at the toddler seats but they look like bike seats. Not sure how long my son will be happy sitting for in a hard bike type seat.
Has anyone had any experience with this?

  • I got my son a toddler seat, it’s quick to attach and we only take it out if he dosent feel like walking (which is only sometimes) but he loves it! He can stand up on it as well! It’s very handy and I prefer it over a double pram. They can be very bulky.

  • I’m curious to know others answers to this question too

  • You used to be able to buy seats that attached to prams, not sure if you still can

  • Some prams allow a universal seat or skateboard stand which works well. or you could upgrade. Check out your local marketplace or gumtree as there can be those going fairly cheaply.

  • Congratulations! We bought an inexpensive double pram, but didn’t actually use it much – our oldest was ready to move into a stroller around 2 years, so that worked for family trips (pram and stroller).

  • We bought this universal attachable skate that comes with a seat. My toddler spends time standing, seating or even not using it (walking). So I suppose that is a good option.

  • I personally wouldn’t do anything that risks the structural integrity/stability of the pram. Single prams are only designed to support a certain weight distribution and double prams are designed for double support specifically. So while it’s another expense if you want a double pram you’d have to buy a double.

  • Probably you will need to purchase a Second Seat Conversion Kit which come with some prams. I would ask advise by the retailer

  • Thanks everyone. I will hold off buying a double for now. My boy may want to walk everywhere and in which case I won’t need the double pram. I also don’t want to sell my silvercross. Hopefully I can find an attachment

  • There are lots of stroller seats that are more like a seat and not like a bike seat. In saying that, I had a silver cross with my first and found it wasn’t compatible with many toddler seat attachments, I ended up selling it and getting a second hand Baby Jogger City Select Lux with the bench seat attachment.
I probably didn’t even need to though, I’ll probably carry my baby in a baby carrier 99% of the time anyway, and by the time I start putting them in the pram the older one will be ready to walk without needing the extra seat

  • We had the same problem.
In all honesty, we just bought a stroller for my toddler – dad pushes one and I push the other! Toddlers don’t want to be in their strollers half the time so really you don’t need to bother as this is probably a good walking and exploring experience for them to be able to run around freely.

  • How about sell it this one and buy second hand double pram? That was what I did.

  • That was going to be my suggestion, add a toddler seat to your pram. I haven’t really got anything else to offer
