Hello!

My 10 m/o is in a routine 7pm till 7am sleep, however if he doesn’t make it to 7am he’s up at 6.30am. However, the last month he has only been sleeping to 5.30am. I’m pregnant with our second and I would really like the extra hours sleep while I can. Is there a particular reason for this sudden change in sleeping pattern?

  • The best advice I was given, is it is ‘Stages not Ages’ with kids, they are not robots, like us, they have good and bad nights… I was very blessed with a son that goes hard during the day and sleeps 12 hours – 6 to 6!! Good luck with your new bub too x

  • As far as I’m concerned, kids’ sleeping patterns are strange and uncontrollable beasts… you could consider whether he’s hungry (had a growth spurt?) or cold.

  • My son wakes up at 6am I give him a bottle and encourage him to stay in bed until get up time. Just because they wake you don’t have to rush and get them up

  • Growth spurt, change of season, daylight savings all kinds of things

  • Their needs for sleep changes as they get older. If you want him to sleep more at night maybe try waking him earlier from his afternoon nap.

  • there are some good comments here

  • maybe try making the room darker

  • i would be happy with that. lol

  • Some good advice there below.

  • put him to bed a little later, and see what happens.

  • As bubs get older their sleep needs will change. Try popping bub to bed a little later, or just compromise and go to bed yourself earlier.

  • Time to change around naps and bedtime,?

  • Maybe try bed a little later?

  • how did it go? :)

  • I hope he manages to get back into a good routine for you.

  • i hope its worked out

  • I hope some of the suggestions below help.

  • My Master Nearly 3 is doing the same thing – waking earlier than normal. This happens during summer – unfortunately, their body clocks seem to know when the sun is rising, and wake accordingly. We’re lucky if he sleeps in 1 morning a fortnight these days. I’m 6 months pregnant with my 2nd and the early mornings are hurting a bit, but I do get a reprieve for an hour or so when he goes down for a nap. Hope things get easier for you soon!

  • My 10month has just decided tha a 1.30am to 3.30am is a good time to have play time but you just have to work with them and try to get nanna naps in goodluck

  • How does he fall asleep and what do you do when he wakes at that time?
