Hello!

Hi guys,
I was just wondering what are some great cheap ideas in Melbourne for these Christmas holidays?
I try and stick to kid free days or when they are half price.
budget is super tight this year so any suggestions are welcome :)
thanks

  • The Great Ocean Road is always a great drive!

  • Museums; Galleries and Libraries often have free activities; worth checking out.

  • Hi. Check out a website like http://www.playgroundfinder.com/ to find a great playground. Catch public transport there & pack a picnic to make it an adventure for the kids. Swim in the bay. The RAAF museum at Point Cook has free entry. Summer by the Sea is run by Parks Vic in Jan – heaps of free things to do. Not to mention the beautiful parks and gardens (check out the fairy tree and dragon slide in the Fitzroy Gardens). Hope that helps. Amanda.

  • The city of Melbourne has many free and cheap Kid friendly activities. Ive always chanced it and just gone into town to see what surprises us. Fed square is usually a great starting point. There would be many places listed online. Id search for free kids activities in Melbourne.

  • My baby is a little too young, but here are some thoughts:
Public libraries often have children’s events that are free or cost very little. The State Library also has displays that might be of interest.
Check out Fed Square’s entertainments (Buddha’s birthday, various markets) are fun to walk around, then picnic lunch in the park.
Take the train to Geelong (check for off peak times) and look at the various Christmas displays around the CBD.
