Hello!

I cooked some chicken, ham and leek pie filling on Saturday afternoon but I ran out of pastry to use it all up, so I put the leftovers in the fridge. Today is Tuesday, so do you think I should use it? Chicken was fully cooked in the mix and will need to recook in the oven in the pastry.

  • Cool! Really very interesting reading the comments to this!

  • Chicken for that period of time should be fine; just always give it the smell and touch test if concerned.

  • l would use it,up to 3 days is suitable, thats the advice that was given to me.

  • Up to 3 days it should be ok. But if in doubt throw it out is my rule

  • I would furor if there is No smell at all

  • I would use it as long as it is within 3 days.

  • i would use it .

  • there are some good comments here

  • i dont think i would eat it

  • Agree with Scottie, after that our Border Collie has any leftovers, meat only no bones.

  • we try to keep to a three day rule – after three days it is out

  • yes it lasts for 3-4 days if cooked and covered properly

  • I have had leftovers in fridge longer than that and they were fine :)

  • it should be alright until tomorrow

  • Did you end up using it?

  • My rule is 3 days. But it must be stored correctly at the right temperature.

  • If stored properly cooked chicken will keep fine.

  • My rule with leftover chicken is: if in doubt, chuck it out. If you’re questioning whether it’s OK to eat it, chances are, you need to toss the leftovers. Personally, I wouldn’t not chance it.

  • As long as it has been refrigerated and stored properly, cooked chicken should be fine to use up to three days after it was cooked. If it has been left out of the fridge for any length of time then I would probably not use it. Check the smell, if in doubt, chuck it out !

  • Well today is Thursday so if say by have either used it or it’s thrown out lol
