Hello!

Sometimes I can’t think of anything to buy for family and friends so I make Christmas hampers. Do you think Christmas hampers are a good idea? Or is it lame?

  • I’ve given people Hampers as gifts and they always seem to like them. I’ve never bought the pre-made hampers though. I’ve found it cheaper and more thoughtful to create hampers with things that each person likes.

  • I think it’s a great idea. Lots of nice goodies in a hamper.

  • i think its a great idea. there is no point giving a present for the sake of and i find gift cards to not be ‘personal’ enough. a Christmas hamper can be tailored to the person/family and is a more thoughtful present

  • I’m not keen on the made-up hampers you buy as it’s not personal. If you make it yourself you select the items you know the person will love.

  • I love getting a Xmas hamper especially if there are things in there I haven’t tried before.

  • Yes , enjoy hampers, hope you made some over Christmas.

  • yeah i love giving and getting them so no biggie. i think it is great.

  • I really love the look of hampers and it’s always a personal touch to make it yourself. You need a good sturdy basket ( which you can find at bargain stores etc ) and know who you are making it for . Eg if its for a family with kids , maybe put some tea towels, jam , nice biccies , chocolates, treats etc, for everyone to enjoy . If its for a girlfriend , you can get a small basket with beauty items etc. Its all creativity and sometimes I just really lack it when I have to think deep lol .

  • Really glad most people are liking it cause I do them a lot!

  • I love both giving and receiving hampers, and if you put them together yourself you can personalise them for each recipient.

  • This is a splendid idea. I would be thrilled to bits if someone gave me one as a gift.

  • Homemade are much more cost effective than purchasing store bought premade ones and you can purchase goodies that are on special and they are much more personal and certainly NOT lame. You don’t have to do just the grocery hamper, personal care, BBQ, aroma therapy are but a few.

  • Hampers are good fun and sticking to a budget is important and essential when shopping to fill a hamper. The reject shop sell cheap baskets for hampers and they sell cheap and pretty boxes too. Have fun making up hampers.

  • Hampers are a great idea. My parents make up a hamper for my brothers and I every year. They include soap, food items (olives, tuna, liquorice coffee etc) and other bits and pieces that she knows we like. I like to make them as well and usually try to put things in them that are indulgent or for the family to enjoy like a family dvd or extra special chocolate.

  • Christmas Hampers are a fantastic present,we have received them and enjoyed all the goodies!

  • Home made hampers are lovely and not lame – they can be interesting and full of lovely goodies.

  • Yep always love giving and getting hampers – particularly if they have good variety in them – premade ones can be costly so I make my own up too

  • I personally like them. Giving food is always a great idea!

  • I’ve been in your predicament, presents to buy and no idea what to buy, so I’ve bought a hamper or 2. I’ve also received them. I enjoy getting them, so I don’t think they’re lame. Not sure what the receivers think

  • Home made Christmas Hampers are an excellent idea!
