Hello!

What do you know about epilepsy? Do you have epilepsy? Know someone with epilepsy? Please share your story and spread the awareness. I will be having a Facebook Market Fundraiser on my page to raise money for the not for profit Epilepsy Action Australia. This will be open from March 25 – March 29. www.facebook.com/minkiboo

My 13 month old daughter was diagnosed four months ago with absence and atonic seizures, she is currently medically controlled. I do not know what the future holds for her.

  • I am so glad there is an Epilepsy Awareness Day. Hopefully it will eliminate the stigma attached to the condition. There are a few different types of Epilepsy. Some sufferers have to contend with 2 or more types. Some get what they call and aura – a warning that they are going to have a seizure, sometimes enough time to make themselves as safe as possible to prevent a fall. Many have suffered considerable injuries. Some are completely controlled by medication. Some have several seizures a day or week or month or year.
Some of the triggers are tiredness, stress, alcohol, flashing lights, some computer games, pain from various causes, an infection or gastro. I personally have epilepsy which is controlled except if I get an infection (especially if I have a high temperature or gastro. Some have absence epilepsy. They stop what they are doing, then carry on as normally provided it doesn’t cause confusion. After suffering a seizure some just want to sleep, some are very agitated for awhile, some are quite aggressive.
    or gastro.

  • Had no idea about this day. My mum is on medication and has had seizures all her life but only gets them at night time.
