Hello!

Grieving? I know everyone grieves in a different way, but how exactly do you explain it to your family?
My Brother died October 2014
Pop died February 2015
Brother-In-Law died April 2015
All within 6 months.

  • Wow, you were really slammed with grieving in that short amount of time. Why do you need to explain it to anyone? Do whatever you gotta do to get through

  • We all grieve in different ways indeed and it can take some years to get the raw sharp edges of your pain. One thing I found can help is sharing your pain within your family. Set for example a day per week apart to do activities related to your lost loved ones. Find for example all the photo’s, cards and letters in the house of your lost loved one and make a book. Share on an other moment memories about this person. On another afternoon you could make a forest walk and visit the grave. On another afternoon you could go to a restaurant and eat the favourite food of you lost loved one. When you do this together in your family, you will feel the comfort of sharing your feeling and somehow keep this person alive between you.

  • So very sorry to hear of your losses all so soon, the best way l find is just to get on with life, that’s what they would what you to do.

  • Thanks for all your thoughts and answers

  • We were in a similar situation back in 2005. My brother in law died on 13-10 and my mother in law 23-11, just 5 weeks later and the night before my daughters 12th birthday :,( we were devastated, especially hubby. I think he and the kids still feel the effects as if it happened yesterday

  • So sorry to hear. We are in a similar situation. My grandmother, our neighbour, and now my husband’s grandmother. It’s hard. We are just trying to process it all and deal with it. Our 4 year old keeps asking questions, and we are just keeping it simple with her and explaining people die when they get old.

  • it is hard to get through. make the explanation age relevant as kids don’t really understand it all.

  • That is a lot of grief to deal with in a short period of time. When I was going through a particularly difficult time a few years ago and just didn’t seem to be able to go on I started writing in a diary and found it extremely therapeutic. Was accidental that I tried this and have since read how helpful it can be to people trying to deal with grief or stressful situations.
Good luck in your future life and don’t forget to be kind to yourself.

  • So sorry,I know it is the hardest time to cope, takes a long time, try to think of any happy times ,listen to uplifting music, try to do anything positive that makes you happy, always cherish their love, maybe trying not to think at all ,switching off, trying to get your mind back to the happy place is the only answer to avoid depression, all my love & best wishes!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
