Hello!

Currently pregnant with my second, my partner and I have chosen not to find out the gender and are actually really excited to find out when Bub is born.

When looking at baby clothes I’m getting really disappointed (and upset due to hormones) that there is basically no gender neutral options it’s all white or oatmeal, even blankets.

When I was pregnant with my now 7yr old daughter there was lots of mint and lemon yellow ect as a newborn unisex option.

  • Yes, newborn clothes are awful now

  • We were lucky enough to be given a wide variety clothes in various colours.

  • I find searching online provides a wide selection of options.

  • Check out best and less, and online. There are heaps of options! Green, purple, black, so many options!

  • You only need basics for newborns anyway. But have a look at the small online stores.

  • Neutral colours are rare now unfortunately. When I had my children we didn’t find out for any births as the suppose was more appealing to us. There was a huge variety of mint & lemon available then. I have no answers but perhaps if you have a known person who is clever with sewing you could but neutral material & have some made?

  • You won’t need much before bub is born grab some pj’s lots of neutral wondersuits and you’ll have a heap of stuff in no time.

  • Try Wilson & Frenchy for a few cute special pieces or bonds too – but agree with others, just get a few pieces and then buy more once baby arrives

  • How about bonds? Maybe not green and yellow but lots of bright unisex options

  • I guess that’s the fashion trend at the moment. Things change all the time.

  • I found that I couldn’t find many gender neutral options in store but if I specifically typed in the colour I was after & ‘baby clothes’ online, then I would find items. Zulily is also a great website for gender neutral clothing & baby bedding

  • Your right, i guess it’s the fashion now. Those types of nude colors

  • You don’t consider white gender neutral? Anyway, I still see lots of other colors.

  • Just buy the minimum amount you need and then when bubs is born go shopping to get things then! All the best :)

  • I suppose its the current trend. You may be better looking at some of the smaller brands and businesses. There are weekend markets, facebook marketplace, ebay and etsy. Even op shops may have colours to suit.

  • I agree, I felt the exact same when I was pregnant with our baby last year. Barely any nice gender neutral options, we had minimal clothes until the baby was born and then we went crazy and bought so much. We felt that was the only option.

  • I just buy any clothes I think look cute for newborns…gender doesn’t matter at that age

  • I think Bonds has beautiful and colourful baby clothing ! Best and Less has a good range.

  • When I was pregnant (also didn’t find out) I also purchased a lot of unisex clothes and the only colours that were available at the time were white and grey. It was ok though don’t get to upset cause when the bubs is born you’ll be tempted to buy (and do buy) an increasing load of clothes that you feel meet your bubs gender and personality.

  • I have found that Cotton on and Bonds both have beautiful unisex options of newborns. i must admit I loved the mint and lemon colours too.
