My all time favourite mini series was Band of Brothers 0 absolutely brilliant WW2 series. I cant recommend this highly enough – everyone that i have recommended it to has agreed.

The BBC’s six part Pride and Prejudice is very well done and true to the book.

The one I am thinking of has a small blend of modern with mainly historical mini series. It is Outlander based on a collection of books by Diana Gabaldon. It has the heroine from 1940’s step back in time 200 years. Yes small element of time travel and that is where the historical part is and it is so well done and set and filmed in Scotland.

Not sure if this is exactly what you’re looking for, but I love Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones. Another good one is about Henry the 8th, can’t think of the title tho
