Hello!

I am looking for a natural treatment for the type of nail fungus that gets under the nail and causes discolouration. Do you have any recommendations?

  • I tried everything from tea tree oils, garlic, apple cider vinegar etc. I even used DSMO mixed in to help get the treatments go through the nails to the fungus underneath the nail bed but none of it worked. I started considering copper for other treatment remedies and general health and came across a few articles for treating nail fungus with copper sulfate (it’s blue crystal like in appearance “powder”) I tried it and with the first treatment the four affected toes on my right foot turned blue and low and behold my left foot had just started to get infected as two toenails in that foot on their edges turned blue. Everywhere where the fungus was yellow, turned blue. I soaked my feet with a table spoon of the copper sulfate in water for 10days for 20 mins. On weekends or when I had time I soaked them for about an hour while watching TV. After years of nothing working, the copper sulfate worked and from the very first day it blued out all the fungus so you see the results right away. The nails that didn’t have fungus didn’t turned blue so you know it’s not just turning your nails blue even if there is no fungus. I got a small bottle off ebay for like $8. Also after a few days of throwing out the water and starting a fresh solution, I just kept the same water and added a table spoon of the copper sulfate so towards like the final few days my solution was very strong. I’ve read that a cup of copper sulfate poured into a pond will kill all plant life. Copper sulfate is used to kill roots of trees that get into pipes below the ground, so yes, this stuff is quite effective. I wish I had come across this years ago. My fungus came from untreated athletes foot and damaged nails from long distance running that allowed the spores to go to the nails and infect them. If you have athletes foot and don’t kill it, it can eventually go to your nails. I’m sure Copper Sulfate will kill athletes foot too since it’s the same strain. If you plan to go to a pool or anywhere bare footed, be warned, the blue is unsightly and draws attention to your toenails! When the nails eventually grow back you will be fine and fungus free.

  • My mother in law used methylated spirits on her fungal infections. She used metho for a lot of things

  • Try nailKALM which uses an organic, 100% natural ingredient made from Spirulina, is clinically proven, and they now offer a money back guarantee. Can be bought direct from the manufacturer for approx. $59 (see http://www.nailkalm.com.au)

  • If you’re still experiencing this problem you might be interested in my experiences with swimming see https://mouthsofmums.com.au/story/who-would-have-thought-swimming-and-toe-nail-fungus/

  • so that would be athlete’s foot? buy some over the counter stuff, ask the pharmacist to help you

  • Unfortunately if it is a nail fungus, and more than a few nails are affected, it is best to see the Dr to take a scraping to see exactly what it is. If there are multiple toenails affected you may need a course of tablets to help rid you of it. There are topical treatments, but if there are quite a few toenails affected, then it will become a vicious cycle and waste of money.

  • There are some great remedies now on the market that won’t cost your other leg or arm. Check them out. Years ago I used a treatment that cost $120 and really worried about the cost as I couldn’t afford that sort of money. However, it worked and my nails have never been better ever since. From memory I think it was Logicil [or something like that], but there are much cheaper and more natural remedies around these days.
